Re: my spondon blade
Second thoughts though RB, I think the oil being cooed in there might actually get hotter as it's so close to the headers.....can you not get it slightly further out at the bottom or is it the angle of the shot?

it'll be fine once its done properly.

Cant you use a set of vmax intakes they always looked mental. Like the stumpy look RB I would go even closer to the seat and have that swingarm out there on its own, keep up the good work.

Re: my spondon blade
this weekends progress...
well...the few hours I had on it
bled the front brakes
bled the bastard rear...fecking thing took ages...ended up bleeding the cable without the caliper on the end...that got the bugger!
made the oil cooler mount...then made it again....still shite. will have to make V3 next week.
need to make a little chain guard thing...cos the rearsets are damn close to the chain.
tried designing something...but it looked naff...work in progress!
took the seat to peices and cut it up...getting there...will need to trim the seat foam down cos at the moment it drops away in the wrong place. should work out ok.
wanted to get more done this weekend...but got obliterated on Saturday night...head still mings!

it never had one!...
the ZX10 front end is in the Spondon...and the other I had has been fitted to Yantosh's latest Turbo GSXR.
I've got lots of USD/radial front ends in my ebay 'watched' list tho...

Re: my spondon blade
Went to see Ed today ( the guy playing with my Spondon)...up at 6...was in McDonalds in Ipswich by 8.30...
decent chat and saw the sponny....and back home for 3.
so I had an hour & half in the garage....so I made some mounts for the electrics
angle grinder and sheet steel....went for it.
one plate for the Reg/Rec heat sink.....and one for the CDi unit and Alarm ( cos I can't work out how to rip the alarm out!!)
I haven't fixed the alarm and CDi yet...or the wiring...but at least I have somewhere to mount them now!
I know its not straight...but it can all be hidden behind the seat later...but thats one more job of the list !

Re: my spondon blade
A nice bit of progress mate! how bad is the alarm?
I've managed to remove a few on previous bikes & didn't find them to problematic. Just trace all the wires off the alarm & put some masking tape on them & number them as you go & then either clip them off & tape up the loom or do it properly with a soldering iron! No real biggy though

ahh...but you forget the "can't be arsed" factor...I figure If I can hide it...it'll be ok..and the chances of me frying everything if I rip wires out is very high...remember my blade rectiier fire??
I've just insured it...swapped the cover from the blade I sold,...and have said its got an alarm on it.
didn't tell em much else...cc increase, tuned cylinder head, front and back end change, filter & carbs.....etc....but I did say it had an alarm and aftermarket downpipes!

Oh yeah the rectifier fire!!! Best leave it alone then mate!
OMG that's bad on the insurance front! the only thing that off a blade is the frontend! & I thought I was bad not telling the insurance company of my mods

no no no....sold the blade....transfered the insurance to the bird and declared it as a lovely CBR1100xx..with a nonstandard exhaust cos " you know how they rot!"
so its a bird....but the only parts are frame loom carbs and 70% of the engine

Re: my spondon blade
friday night...bored...thought I'd post up some pics
not much progress as I've only had bout 3 hours on it in about 2 or 3 weeks
just been sorting out 'behind the scenes' stuff...mounting CDi and alarm box
and the rest of the electricity tubes..
also dummied up the undertray...need to find some steel or ally for the real thing...but just used the old undertray of the old blade to see how it would look.

Re: my spondon blade
yeah..I need a month off to finish both bikes!
the Sponny...I went to visit a few weeks ago.
its going slowly, but should pick up steam soon.
my mate Ed is just finishing his GSXR1100 turbo ( will be at the NEC!) then he'll do some bits on it ( wiring loom, seat unit support, turbo headers and a few fidly bits) Then Yantosh ( whos Turbo GSXR1100 will also be at the NEC) will be working on it after that. He'll be making some trick bits out of billet ally ( rear caliper mount, instrument pod, and other bits for the turbo)
deadline is still the same...TT next year
scary!
