Do you reckon mine will be ok if I sandwich abit of 4mm ally plate between the regulator/rectifier & that brace?

Re: Project RRN with R6 tail plastics
From reading on the net these R/R's need a seperate ground wire to the battery to solve the overheating problem, I'm going to make a heatsink plate and also fit the extra ground wire.

Ive already put the extra ground wire in cabbie last week when I was tinkering.
Added extra wire to the green terminal which runs straight to the negative terminal of the battery.

Re: Project RRN with R6 tail plastics
Cabbie & Radiobloke I notice you are both running the old "bakerlite" type of regulator/rectifier.
Mine is a replacement part made of metal with built in cooling fins.
This could well make a big difference guys!
Although I am contemplating relocating it yet again to the side of the subframe where it will hopefully get more cooilng.
Will monitor it where its currently located to see how hot it gets before I decide to move it.

I havent ridden it yet as its still in pieces. Ive sat on it & first impressions are they feel great, feels like a lot sportier riding position. As for weight distribution, doesnt feel any different mate.
Should be getting it m.o.t`d in a few weeks time so will let you know how they feel once I have a few miles under my belt........ Although you`ll probably have your fighter on the road by then anyway!
Thanks mate, I look forward to hearing how you get on with them!

I had a look on my Urban Tiger and found the reg/rec had been replaced with a pattern one that also features cooling fins.
Fortunately on the RRP I'd caught it just as it went down starting to melt one alternator terminal on the multiplug, from the alternator.
Metered both the alternator and the reg/rec and it was indeed the reg/rec.
So I've replaced with one of these chinese copies (or are they oem as so much nowadays?) off Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250381140735&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm38%26_nkw%3D%2B250381140735%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1
Despite quoting me 14 days, it arrived after only 4 days, so well pleased.
They haven't gone overboard on the resin but if it lasts a few years at £25 it's no foul.
When it arrived I did however find the hole spacing wider than the standard so my subframe now has an extra 6mm hole for either type of reg/rec.
For the multiplug repair I was fortunate having bought one of these to repair the same plug on my VF750F (also suffering a reg/rec breakdown):

Sorry cabbie.
I have been tinkering but no pictures yet im afraid.
Been modifiying the R6 undertray, re-fitting & altering, then re-fitting again. It needs trimming as the R6 subframe has to be pulled in to fit inside the Blade frame...... Getting there though.

Im not ready to ride yet anyway mate. Following on from the car accident I was involved in last month my neck still hurts. The sideways movement is restricted at present & wouldnt be able to do my lifesavers.

Re: Project RRN with R6 tail plastics
Been looking at the front mudguard options again & Ive finally decided which one to use....
I bought this one ages ago as I wanted something a bit more modern looking than the standard slim mudguard. It was fibreglass & didnt seem like the perfect fit to be honest....
Then I bought this one, in A1 condition & had been resprayed bright red....
Sold the deep sided fibre-glass one & decided to opt for the later Blade mudguard pictured above.
BUT then....
I won this one on ebay the other day for £2.70... bargain!!! Described as being once fitted to his RRP Fireblade, complete with fork tube brackets.
Anyway it came today, i took it out the box, seems very good condition, plastic & not fibreglass, bright orange but never mind. Looked on the underside & it has TRIUMPH in the moulding!
Fits like a glove, looks cool so definately going with this one....
So if any of you guys fancy something different then I can confirm that the Triumph mudguard fits without any mods at all. Held on nice & sturdy with the 4 fork clamps.

Re: Project RRN with R6 tail plastics
Money is tight at the minute as we are hoping to move house again soon so will probably be going for the original colour scheme...... scousers shell suit!
Purpley/Blue front mudguard, white tail plastics & under tray with original style graphics on the tail cut down follow the new lines.

Might even do the wheels black again, although I like them in white they are a pain in the arse to keep clean.

Bike back in the garage now as we have our house on the market & the ball & chain reckons it dont look good with a motorbike in the conservatory.
Removed tail plastics today & started to wet flat them.
Cut fuel tank bracket off Blade subframe & rivited it to R6 subframe ready for welding.
