Re: Updating my RRW
Like the look of the tail tidy, very smart. R&G make a small numberplate light that is easy to fit and can be mounted just above the numberplate and give out a good amount of light, I fitted one to my old Kawasaki 636 years ago and it got me through the MOT. You may need a reflector on the back to to pass the MOT, I remember I once failed an MOT for not having one.

Re: Updating my RRW
Ah good point Monkey forgot about the reflector, ive seen them on the plate before so will do that.. I may add the rear white light to my larger number plate rather than adding something to the undertray, I can remove it then if I want too

Re: Updating my RRW
thanks Woodzy
OK so first trial fit of the subframe with the new pieces tack welded on before he seems welds them all up. I need to make a couple of mods glad I checked it, the first up and over seat mounts need to move forward 10mm and I need to add a small peice to the rear mount for the seat cowl to slot into at the back.
Im also getting a little 90 degree peice added to the rear to tidy it up where the brace over hangs the back and remove a section of alloy to allow the wiring through on the battery peice but its getting there. Seat is also appart so I can add some mounts and perhaps add a nice leather covering while im at it
pic time

Re: Updating my RRW
Small update time, front brake pads arrived today so ive fitted and now bleed all the system and everything looks good. I was worried as I used pattern caliper piston seals but they are all holding up fine and all pistons are moving nicely. Seems to have loads of power so I hope the standard 900 master cylinder is up to the job but won’t know for sure until I ride it.
I’ve also ordered the rear brake line, ive gone for the lines you assemble yourself (thanks Clive) so I can thread the steel line through the swinging arm without needed a huge hole to fit the banjo fitting though. I also need a small 4" piece for a loop on the rear caliper as the VFR has some weird dual line system im doing away with.

Re: Updating my RRW
Are you sure you need 'the loop', couldn't you just blank off one of the holes? with a bolt the same thread as the banjo bolt and a washer

Re: Updating my RRW
No worries mate, Hopefully get my rear line done at the weekend as my mate's started welding the link pipe now. He's took the 'Y' piece away with him and promised me it done for saturday. We'll see who gets to fit their end first!!! so to speak

Re: Updating my RRW
OK well so was bored today so cleared the garage out and cleaned up ready for when my tail or rear brake line arrives.. (hate waiting for stuff!!) As I have a front brake I thought I would wheel the bike out for some pics of it from the side as the sun was out for a change.

Re: Updating my RRW
Thanks Wes, will look even better when the other halfs on there
Was great to get it out of the garge for the first time in 6 months, in one peice anyway!
I was caught by the neighbour sitting on it in the garage the other day when I was trial fitting the tail unit, glad I wasnt making broom broom noises haha

Re: Updating my RRW
Rear brake lines arrived today and ive fitted all the caliper end and made a little tail peice for the loop back. Ends are not too bad to make up Clive, had to cut the cable also and still managed to do it. Whether they hold fluid is remains to be tested yet though
Oh and exciting news Practical Sports Bike want to feature the bike next month!! I think its going to be too soon as dont think the tank will be back but im chuffed Hopefully they can send me some of the pictures from the shoot, I also had a 3 door cossie featured a couple of years ago which I restored and they sent me the photos. If so I can have some large prints done of the features and put them on the garage wall

Re: Updating my RRW
OK bit of an update, the tank is off being painted. Found a great bike painters local to me called Area 51. Went down there Friday and they are going to tackle the job. Its am amazing place like a operating theater. They are using my paints and painting the honda wings on the tank so will look amazing! and they are painting the mirrors white. Two weeks and it should be done
Also picked the subframe up all done and ive trial fitted everything drilled holes for the seat cowl mounts and bolted everything up. I have to take it all appart again now for powdercoating :(
Here some pics, first one is the rear brake line loop I made up. I still need to make up the master cylinder end but its allmost there:

Re: Updating my RRW
OK well subframe is back from the powdercoaters and looks fantastic like a factory bit of kit im very happy. All mounted up, all electrics are now connected even the gsxr tail light is soldered in and the indicators and relay resistors are mounted.
Pic dont look great as flash has made it all look grey and shows up the dust

Re: Updating my RRW
Thanks for the kind words everyone
Well the time has come to say its complete (for now) I rode it today for the first time since November and it felt great have to say, suspension feels 100% better than it did the bumps are soaked up and it gives great feedback. Cant wait to take it for a decent run and get those tyres bedded in.
Its got an MOT tomorrow and then I can tax it, great forcast for the rest of the week so the timing couldnt be better! Mag people are coming tomorrow evening for the photoshoot also so thats exciting
Future plans are perhas a triumph rear spindal and a ducati rear wheel with a 6" rim so I can run a 190 tyre, I want to run the pipe higher so perhaps a custom exhaust with the pipe coming up higher. Its a pain as you have to remove the rear can to remove the rear wheel which sucks a bit. But I just cant wait to ride it now
Couple of pics with the new reupholstered seat the missus did which came out ok in the end.
