Re: Ace Cafe Fireblade Day 2011
This thread has gone off track, it started out as the blade day which this forum initiated so I will be there come hell or high water.
Group rideouts are another issue which I find awkward and dangerous when 20 odd riders with varied skills there are bound to be mishaps. The last time there was a meet up at Bury Hill I waited for 2 hours for the group to arrive because of three mishaps along the way. At my age can still scratch with the intermediate boys on roads that I know if not I'm tail end charlie for the whole trip.

listen to your elders gentlemen, not everyone wants to go to the blade day, not no one is forcing you to go to it either.
Oh and if there's going to be a trackday - weekend PLEASE remember there are a few folk up north i.e. Scotland.

Re: Ace Cafe Fireblade Day 2011
Rockingham sounds like a good place to have it.
A trackday for who ever wants to play.
Tents, bbq's, loud music etc.
People can turn up and leave whenever they like, have ride outs on the way to and from with other members from their area and people can still spend hours admiring each others bikes.
Sounds like something for everyones taste to me.

Re: Ace Cafe Fireblade Day 2011
Its not as simple as that mate, the one negative about rockingham, you cant camp over in the paddock, they make you stay in a holding area, which is a giant gravel area, so a tent wouldn't work.
I was in a van, so it didn't bother me, but if its going to be a big gathering, then that has to be considered.
Which is why i went for Donnington, yes it £50 more than Rockingham, but you can stay in the paddock and please yourself's.
If its going to be a one off, then the extra it costs, i think is worth it.
Just what i think.
The paddocks i know you can stay in are, mallory, donnington and cadwell, i stayed at all 3 last year but cadwell has a £5 charge, talking to some of the others ive discounted that track, because its crap to get to for the southern guys.
How about something in april or may, as any later than that, the prices go through the roof and any dates would have to be midweek because of the races taking up all the weekends, or flip side, aug, sep ?
Is it worth starting a separate thread for this ?

Definitley worth a new thread,
Shame about Rockingham though but I'd be well up for Donnington, it's great for camping.

This has been totally hijacked, if you want a rideout with 100's of bikes organize one on another thread, if you want a trackday bbq music camping beer etc etc post up a thread for that.
We've got our foot in the door at the Ace now so why not keep it there, you never know in years to come it could evolve into something special? There's no rule book to say there can be only one Fireblade day so why not get a few events organized for 2011?
I'll be riding up to the Ace with Masterblade on Sunday 3rd July for definite, i will also try to make any other Fireblade events that are organized for this coming year.

Right, that's all my contributions to this thread deleted as requested. I won't contribute anything else to this thread . Funny , I thought Forums were about discussing things and being allowed to express an opinion. Ho hum!!!

Everybody IS entitled to their own opinion and threads as said, there are a few good ideas here which will work for some in more ways than others. Lets keep the ideas rolling for Fireblade day here and on the trackday thread & not take anything too personally.
If there's enough interest I can talk to the Ace and possibly get the date changed so it doesn't clash with the Goodwood festival? Or.... we could go to the Ace then ride to Goodwood (pass me the new thread button quick!)

Re: Ace Cafe Fireblade Day 2011
At last common sense prevailed. On track days every one stays focused with the objectie in mind the more adventurous wanted a continental trackdays and we ended up doing Assen one year, Jerez the next and many at the Ring some who had the time and money went along.
Meeting up for a chat, BBQ and few beers is another social gathering with a different outlook. Trying to organise such events needs the patience of a Saint as many tend to cancell at the last minute with some tale of woe that can be annoying.

Re: Ace Cafe Fireblade Day 2011
I think it'll be a bit much to get to the Ace then onto Goodwood for some people, remember some members traveled for hours to get to the Ace. Then once we got to Goodwood the emphasis wouldn't be Fireblades and we'd all get split up amongst the 1000's of spectators.fastbikefinder wrote:If there's enough interest I can talk to the Ace and possibly get the date changed so it doesn't clash with the Goodwood festival? You could change the weekend of Fireblade day if lots of members want to go to Goodwood but if not i'd leave the date alone, i love the machinery at Goodwood and the way you can get up close & personal with everything inc the stars but there's far too much upper class snobbery and hoytee toytee for me, so for that reason....i'm out.

Re: Ace Cafe Fireblade Day 2011
Mail from the Ace:
Hi Simon,
Many thanks for your below email and advice. Please be advised that I have copied this correspondence to Jan, Cal and Darren of the cafe's events team, for their information and such that you and they may be able to liaise direct re Fireblade Day, Sunday 3rd July, and your presence and participation, banners, display, stands etc.
Kind Regards
MARK WILSMORE
Managing Director
www.ace-cafe-london.com
www.acecafeevents.com
So if someone can get there early with the banner that would be appreciated, or even drop it off when they are passing the week before? Who's got it again?
I've still got the Fireblade Day website running. I'll start work on it for this years day soon. The Ace Cafe have offered their backing in helping us gain some sponsored prizes IF we want to run any competitions.
With that in mind I'll be looking for some prizes from Hein Gericke and Infinity for :
Best original Blade (Pre '98 - )
Best Modified/Engineered Blade
Prizes I'll be looking for will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd for each category.
I'll also be looking to get some magazine coverage this time round so get polishing and have a shave before the day.
If anyone has any ideas or feasible suggestions speak quick before I put all this into motion as it's time consuming work and I'll be at it for the next few months and can't afford to be changing things 2 months from now.
Remember, it's your forum so have your say
