KOSO DB-01 SPEEDO SETUP
KOSO DB-01 SPEEDO / RPM
I fitted a set of new KOSO clocks last weekend and all was fine untill I came to the setup of the RPM.
I entred my blade was a 4 stroke 4 piston but the RPM guage was way out
I had a play with the piston setting and the penny finally droped.
So here we go.
The whole piston thing is a little confusing because my 918 Fireblade has 4.
Its not how many pistons does the bike have, its how many are fed from each coil.
My blade has 4 pistons but 2 coils, 1 coil feeds 2 pistons.
The RPM is wired into 1 of the coils so it picks up two pistons.
The corect setting for a 1996 CBR 900RR is (4 stroke 2 pistons)
This will give the corect reading at idle of 1000 RPM
So if this helps anyone else with a blade that has a 16" front wheel in the U.K. happy days.
PRESS BOTH BUTTONS FOR 3 SECONDS
PRESS RIGHT BUTTON ONCE TO SET KPH/MPH TO MPH
PRESS LEFT BUTTON ONCE MORE TO SET WHEEL DIAMETER
USING THE RIGHT BUTTON TO KEY IN NUMBERS AND THE LEFT BUTTON TO MOVE TO THE NEXT DIGIT KEY IN 1810 FOR WHEEL CERCUMFERENCE. AND 6P FOR SIX MAGNETS.
PRESS LEFT BUTTON TO MOVE ON TO RPM.
SET THE SCREEN FOR 4C (4 STROKE) AND 2P (2PISTONS)
PRESS LEFT BUTTON AND Hi / Lo WILL FLASH (Hi setting is if you wire in to your coil, Lo is if you wrap the sensor wire around the HT lead. I hard wired mine, so I set it to Hi)
PRESS THE LEFT BUTTON TO MOVE TO THE NEXT SCREEN FO FUEL GUAGE. THE 1996 CBR 900RR HAS NO FUEL GUAGE SO LEAVE IT SET AT 100 AND PRESS THE LEFT BUTTON
FINISH.
Hope this takes a bit of confusion out of their instructions because they are not that easy to understand. The clocks cost £98.00 and are an excellent bit of kit. They are supplied with the loom, sensor and 6 magnets that sit in your disc rotor Allen bolt holes.
The instructions came free with the clocks and are crap.
Hope this helps anyone with the same setup problems I had.

I love the look of your clocks CBRRRT.
Did you make the 'Duster bracket or does it come with the clocks?
Great info on the install too

Re: KOSO DB-01 SPEEDO SETUP
Cheers mate.
I made the bracket out of an ally kick plate that was on an old door in a skip. I cut a bit off with my hack saw a bit bigger than I needed and covered it in masking tape, then drew the bracket design onto it and started cutting drilling and filing. an hour later it was done mate. A squert of acid etch and a lick of paint and the jobs a gooden.

Re: KOSO DB-01 SPEEDO SETUP
At the bottom of the fork leg there are two bolts that hold the front wheel axil, I undid the one nearer the wheel and fitted the mounting bracket with that bolt. The sensor then lines perfectly with the 6 magnets located in the disc bolt recesses.
Hope that helps mate.

Did you have to bend the bracket the one I've got is flat? Was thinking I might have to mount it on the rear caliper which would fit, I would just need to extend the wiring.
