I hope they can save it.
I know first hand a team from dhl had a tour of the place this week.

The longer nothing happens, the more likely its going to end up as factory units.

Come on people get your names in Save Donington March 7th 2010 964788

The track should start for a petition and sue for damages against F1.

F1 didnt chop up Donnington DPV did if i find that Simon Gillet on the street hes going to be wearing a Volvo shaped hat, o no did i veer off the road and run him over, must have been steering failure.

Once he knew the cause was lost, it was ordered the track be chopped up, the water and electric to the pits and infield be smashed.
Thats why the currant repair bill is £600k not 10k that it would have been without all this malicious intent.

That came from one of the guys asked to provide a quote for msv to get the facility up and running to national standard.

"That came from one of the guys asked to provide a quote for msv to get the facility up and running to national standard."

If people like him came forwards, then why can't Gillet & Co be done for willful damages?
Make and example of him.
There's no place for attitudes in motorsport like that.

I put that to him, the answer he gave, said it would be very hard to prove in court that the damage was on purpose, they would use the cover of "extensive devlopments".

It stinks mate, both of us know what a top place donny is (except on wet kerbs tongue ) , its sad to think we might not get the chance again.

Yes bit it's too early to say that it's doomed to house cars who's owners are away in Spain lol
If they kept the track facilities, made it good, clubs and track day companies would swarm back there.
The Wheatcrofts want it to turn over much more profit than those events could, so if they find a viable addition, say, a theme/amusement park, it may become viable again.
I think we're all looking for a 'quick fix' to what's happened, whereas the business gurus that they are, will be looking to turn things around over a much longer period of time.
Personally, I couldn't care less if the MotoGP etc stays at Silverstone, just as long as the track becomes accessible to the likes of little people like us again lol

The place is on it's knee's Russ, they weren't gonna lay on a bonanza show where they?
Didn't see many blades up there, where was ya?
We parked up near Gate 20, close to the main hall entrance.

Got some pics of the Coppice exit, just absence of gravel traps and the usual cones lying around etc but still looked very eery as if the place had been ransacked and left to rot.... oh yeah, it was lol
Will stick a few pics up when I have time later.
Managed to overhear K Wheatcroft chatting inside the museum too, and he says they're only a week or two away from beng able to announce the new operators and may be able to get things going again in time for some 'events' for 2010 but he wouldn't commit himself to say whether they were track, dirt or music etc
Suppose that's down to the operators once they're officially installed?
Anyway, that's a positive step forwards for the venue so it's got a bit of it's buzz back again yeehhaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not too clever at posting pics these days, hover over them for better size.
These are all off Coppice, the exit side, as that's the only section open to the public for safety reasons etc.
All that gravel from the traps has been shifted elsewhere and lots missing too aparently.
And that one through the wire looking at the exhibition centre, no Dunlop bridge, gone forever, THAT is what really hurts 'cos half the joy of riding here was pinning it out of coppice and feeling the front end lift as you pelted under the bridge-you knew you were at Donington lol

Why are we considering it's jst ONE operator?
I'd be thinking about splitting the empire up.
One company run all things motorsport, another to handle the music etc stuff.
Less risk for the Wheatcrofts too, if one aspect of the venue gets into trouble, it won't affect the other.
Yes? No?

Sorry Russ!!!
Must be my old number you had, haven't got a mobile these days, honestly!
Just saw the PM this afternoon.
We got there about 0900 and stayed an hour or so, I think we were gone by the time you arrived with whoever you met at McD's, sorry mate.
Yeah, not much of a 'thing' going on there at all, I was a bit pi88ed off about them allowing the 'auto jumble' charge £5 just to go in and look around at stalls which are normally selling stuff at the usual Sunday market, where you can get in for 50p.
The 'security guard' on the gate there denied being anything to DP themselves, but it still annoyed me that people had travelled from wherever to be charged money when the entire 'event' was billed as 'free entry'.
Yeah, free to wander around the dusty, grassy areas lol
