Sorry news from cadwell track day
Man dies in race track collision
An investigation has started after a 45-year-old man died when he came off a motorbike at a Lincolnshire race track.
Mark Ward, from Farnsfield in Nottinghamshire, was taking part in an amatuer track day Cadwell Park when his bike collided with another motorcycle.
He was taken to Lincoln County Hospital where he later died from his injuries. The other man, 32, from Batley, West Yorkshire, was not hurt.
Police and the Health and Safety Executive are now investigating.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said as the death occurred on private land, it would be dealt with as a sudden death report to the coroner with an inquest to follow.
My condolences to all concernd

Re: Sorry news from cadwell track day
Was this the track day we all went to yesterday? There was an incident in one of the advanced rider's sessions that the air ambulance attended to but we were told the injuries were not life threatening (broken ribs?) and that the helicopter trip to Lincoln was just a precaution. If this is the same rider then the news is truly shocking, condolences to all the friends & family.

Re: Sorry news from cadwell track day
I was in the Novice group. This happenend during session 3 of the morning in the Advanced group.
We had our sighting laps. Then came back in and waited for session 2. Off we went and fun it was to. Session 3 of the morning never came. Ambulance came in early on session 3 (an ambulance attended for the advanced riders 2nd session I recall also) of the advanced riders 3rd run and it took ages to clear the track.
I remember feeling pissed off that it was taking so long to get the guy off the track. I had a gut feeling that his injuries were serious. But put off any thought of fatality and tried my best to get on with the day.
I slept thru most of lunch in my trailer.
Finished my afternoon sessions and came home.
Somewehere in the back of my mind, I knew this guy was dead.
This thread confirms it.
I got very upset when I read this thread - I cried and needed a cuddle from my wife. I've spent the last couple of hours tring to convince my father (BAB) 'not' to buy a blade - this is the nail in the coffin.
Roadside signs on the way to Cadwell read 'To Die For?' with pics of bikes on tilt.
Tis a sad state of affairs and is really making me think about my choices. I have 2 kids aged 8 (twins) and a 10 week old daughter. I've got two days booked this Sat/Sun on an Airfield during which I'll be gunning to get my Hayabusa over 200mph. I'm allready planning my track days for next year - in a bid to do it all in environments with the least risk - but what does that actually mean. It can't be done on the road and the places at which we take such risks do not take away the possibility of death - it's a mind trick. It's a con. Our minds are where the risk exists, it's all in our mindset.
Track days, Run ways, the Salt Flats etc etc are not 'safer' at all because we ride more dangerously at greater speeds and take even greater risks. Experience counts for nothing, be it in the Inters. novice or advanced with 2 or 20 years experience.
It's a shit sandwhich really it is.
Poor bloke, bet he had it all aswell.
Sorry for rambling but it's my initial thoughts from the hip.
RIP Cadwell Park dude.

Re: Sorry news from cadwell track day
Sad news, RIP, condolences to family and friends.
With regards to what Hanuman posts, yeah its risky, road and track, road more so because at least on track, the traffic is not traveling in conflicting direction, no road debris, no roadside furniture, more run off, but to kid yourself that you eliminate risk of death or serious injury on the track is a fools game.
I am not sure of the point of Hanumans post, what exactly he is trying to say, is it worth the risk? What we do? I have lost many friends over the years, many a bitter pill to swallow, I have 2 kids, I get butterflies everytime I swing my leg over the bike. Should I be riding? I could not begin to imagine not riding, despite the dangers....despite knowing that every ride could be my last. I just cannot stop, no matter who I lose.
RIP to all those gone but never forgotten, and to those never known but known to many.

Re: Sorry news from cadwell track day
Very sad news.
I think we all know of the risks of riding a bike, on a road or a track, and we make the choice each time we get on our bikes.
I've lost friends through cancer at very young ages, and accidents, but hey thats life. If we knew when our number was up would it make a difference to our lifestyle?

Thoughts go out to his family.
Any day could be your last. At least he was doing something he enjoyed. Better way to go than some.
Though I appreciate that is not what his family will be thinking.

Re: Sorry news from cadwell track day
My condolences to the friends and family of the guy, but as has been said before he went enjoying himself. The ones who will be suffering will be those left behind.
We all know the risks involved, all we can do is minimise them road or track.
RIP.
