Re: Cadwell Park 21st September 2009
@Shadow: Someone dropped it big on Mansfield early in the day, and there had been racing all weekend I believe. The pile down the length of Mansfield made you concentrate on your line!
@Kaiser: Thanks mate.
No matter how you're doing you always look at the video afterwards and see things you can improve (rather a lot of them in my case).
The data overlay is done on the PC afterwards. RaceChrono does the datalogging for me during the day and RaceChrono2AVI produces the overlay from the data. I then slap it over the top of my video in Adobe Premiere.

Re: Cadwell Park 21st September 2009
No doubt but there wasn't a lot wrong looking at it from a mere mortal perspective
Was it tyhe advanced group you were in ?
I'll need to do a course on all of this technical stuff for next year

Re: Cadwell Park 21st September 2009
Advanced? No, you'd have seen more bikes going past! I might consider Advanced for next time, I was among the fastest in Intermediates so it's probably time to move up. I've only just moved up to Advanced at Knockhill and I'm wishing I'd done so sooner as it's much calmer.

You looked quick mate and smooth
I'm useless with all that pc/technical gadgetry

Re: Cadwell Park 21st September 2009
The video itself is dead easy, you just need a camera. The RaceChrono really isn't much harder, although it is a little bit of a fiddle.
Re: Cadwell Park 21st September 2009
Ye - will be getting my camera when I get back from Munich at some point.
I would be quite keen to try & monitor my lap times at KH from the first track day next year onwards to check any progression.
I'm guessing last time was about 1.10 ish

Re: Cadwell Park 21st September 2009
Well the camera on it's own will let you check your times, by the time code of the video. If you've a decent editor you can get it frame by frame and get your times to 1/30th or 1/25th.
For just recording times RaceChrono is a doddle to use. All you need is a compatible phone and GPS.

All I know is that I've got a Blackberry Curve
I'll check all this out before next years track day's start. It would just be good to see if I were making progress

Re: Cadwell Park 21st September 2009
A blackberry won't do it, not as yet anyway.
I'm looking forward to next year already, can't wait to see if the new rubber helps me break the one minute lap at Knockhill.

Re: Cadwell Park 21st September 2009
I've got the itch that I will have to put up with all through the winter now
I just want to be able to put in consistant laps like I know I can round KH. Get down around the 1 min or so if poss. certainly no lack of power in the bike, just me

Was that Bri at the end there ?
Another great vid, data is easier to read in that one.

Re: Cadwell Park 21st September 2009
Think it might have been. I was disappointed to miss him clearing the Mountain on the video - I saw him make a huge feckin' leap!
I still need to work on the overlay a bit. I think the blur is down to the different pixel aspect ratios of the two source files.

Re: Cadwell Park 21st September 2009
Thanks. I hadn't realised the photography site tended to go down though, I'll need to move them somewhere more reliable.
