We did cadwell a while back, one guy didnt make it onto the track, big handfull leaving the holding area, sky ground, sky ground, that was the end of his day. Laughing

That wouldn't be good !!

The guy that came off in front me was the first proper lap once the safety car went in to the pit lane. ohmygod

Couyldn't believe the two new R1's had to pull out after the first two sessions due to oil consuption either, obviously not just the new blade that suffers from this problem. The two new blades that were there finished without a problem.

Then another 2 psi, if it still looks cooked.

Thanks again mate - ye, left side was getting cooked round clarks at full throttle in 3rd.

The right was getting cooked the rest of the time.

I'll have someone look at the susepnsion set up for my weight etc & then re-do a track night slwoly, less speed and learn my brake, lines & tip points. Hopefull then I can build speed.

My front is a lot worse than my mates ZX10 front (same BT016) & around the same age/ milage. That was my referance point. He wasn't having any dramas with his front and was handluing teh hairpin & Carlub just fine, I wasn't ???

At the end of the day it's you that's in charge of the throttle. Until traction control becomes a standard fit that's what counts. :p

I'm with Shadow. Tyres look fine if maybe a little overheated. Drop some more pressure next time and see how you go.

Wasn't worried about teh rear at all, plenty grip, just getting chewed.

Ye, I'll drop a coupl eof PSI & start sorting out my lines etc and have someone look at the suspension.

I still, for what ever reason could not negotiate the hairpin. Carlube wasn't as bad but still an issue.

In your experience, what brake pads, discs would you suggest on the basis I will be looking to partake in more track day's ? cheers

As Taz said mate you are probably to tense, you may not notice it but you are probably pushing the front wheel into the ground so as its digging in and not going to slide but loosen up mate and let the bike do the work even if it means you slow down a wee bit for a while till get your confidance back. I weas doing something simular a few yeare age, for some reason my front tyre was getting chewed up more than most then 1 of my mates recond i was to tense so i just backed of and relaxed on the bike and things are much better thumbup

A lot of it is personal taste, especially tyres.

I'm looking to go to stickier tyres now, but I've moved into Advanced. The BT016s have done me fine so far.

I spoke to a BSB mechanic about discs when I needed to replace mine and he told me that the only reason they use Galfer wavy discs is they get them free, he advised me to stick with the Honda standard discs and I've had no trouble.

I like the EBC HH pads, but I've heard good things about Carbon Lorraine amongst others.

The most important thing with brakes to my mind is changing the fluid regularly (at least once a year) and fitting braided hoses if they're not already on.

I've also got Pazzo short levers. I bought them mostly for the looks to be honest, but now I'm used to them I find the standard levers on other bikes surprisingly unpleasant to use. The Pazzos are much more comfortable, adjustable and have a nice action.

If it's any consolation watch my videos of Knockhill and you'll see I still miss the apex of the hairpin almost every ruddy time I go through it! Rolling Eyes

Someone i know races in the open 1000cc class on a R1, he uses standard brake parts even the yam pads, same for the guys running blades.
I would suggest stainless lines, if you havent already done that.
