Split Video First Attempt
My first attempt at putting together video from two bikes. I think I
need to try cutting between them a bit rather than just doing PiP.

That was brilliant mate, really enjoyed it. My first trackday was at Cadwell, with FBR in 2007. What did you use and how do you get yer speed on the picture?

Re: Split Video First Attempt
On my bike I've got a 560 line bullet cam from RF Concepts wired to a mini-DV camcorder in the boot.
The speed/time/track position is provided by free software, RaceChrono, running on an old N95 I had in a draw bluetoothed to a QSTARZ BT-818 eXtreme GPS running at 5Hz and converted to a video display using RaceChrono2AVI (also free). Both of those in the boot under the solo cowl too.
I used Adobe Premiere to overlay the RaceChrono data onto the main video (and to do the twin video overlays and picture in picture).

I loved that day to, about time we did another one.
My first day is going to be march 12th at cadwell.
The other aim was to do 6 this year, up from 4 last year, so every other month i will be somewhere, i will post them up then if people want to meet up that would be great.
Good job Taz
I like the vid in vid thing.

Re: Split Video First Attempt
No, I've never been to Brands. I've only got RaceChrono footage at Cadwell, but hopefully I'll get some at Knockhill next year. Plenty of vids here.
I was really interested in seeing the corner speeds, normally I've no clue what I'm doing (other than going too damn slow).
Can't wait to get back on track.

Re: Split Video First Attempt
You've gotta make a visit to Knockhill. Despite being small it's a great track.

Re: Split Video First Attempt
Premier is pretty powerful which means it's not something you can just sit down and use. But if you're fairly comfortable with computers you can pick up the basics quite quickly.
Re: Split Video First Attempt
ive just had a go with ulead video 7 and some old clips i had on file, doing the split was quite straight forward though im a bit stuck as to which sort of transparency to use for the upper corner video..ive done one split as 0 trans and one split as 22% trans...ffs..this is gonna open up loads of new video ideas for me Taz..thanks for posting up the clip..oh, bTW, the digital read out, was that done with a seperate camera and added as a split?

Re: Split Video First Attempt
The digital readout was produced without a camera, straight from the RaceChrono2AVI software. I change the standard background to a pure blue and use a blue channel transparency to get the info to appear without blocking too much of the video.
Does give you lots of ideas to play with doesn't it?
