New top end for my RRW fighter
I now have most of the bits for my USD front end for my 98 RRW Blade except for a twin headlight / fairing unit. My bike currently has two 4 1/2" Bates headlamps bolted to teardrop brackets onto RRW 45mm RWU forks, so I cant bolt em to my 50mm 929 USDs. The chrome is falling off the lamps as well. I have standard Blade clocks protected by a speed triple binnacle all bolted to the underside of the top yoke. I wanna go for a completely different look, without breaking the bank. Not that keen on tandem lights, but will go that way if it all looks good. Any serious advice welcome. pix to follow?

I just changed the colour and erased the indicators on the front of a CB1000R so it was similar to yours

Re: New top end for my RRW fighter
Fantastic but how the hell can they justify those prices for unpainted fibreglass?

Re: New top end for my RRW fighter
I assumed they come with the lights aswell?
$550 usd? that's about £340 + shipping....so they are expensive, but pretty unique (some I've seen before on fighters)
Did note that some don't come with brackets

Re: New top end for my RRW fighter
Those are exactly what i want to end up with, but no way can I afford those prices. Think I'll need to learn some fibreglassing skills or probably adapt something. Usually find that they don't take decent 50/55 watt low/high beam lamps either. Have been thinking about buying a standard damaged Blade top fairing and light set up, chopping all but the bit around the lights and bolting it to the forks. Whadya think. FBF any chance you could Photoshop a RRV/RRW top fairing, chop the bits off and join it to my top end? I'll post pix of mine and Scotty80s bikes!

Re: New top end for my RRW fighter
Here's a coupla pix;
See that 5" gap behind George's fairing? Reckon I could pull the fairing right up to my Renthal bars and cut off everyhing behind the 10 holes either side of the headlights and the back of the screen and mirrors. Any chance you could photoshop it for me FBF?

You could go for a cheap alternative by getting a mask off eBay then adapting it? These masks come unpainted and require assembly so you could quite easily make a unique light with little effort

I'd love to Mega but Alsie is the photoshop god around here!
I'll have a go later tonight and see how I get on but I'm not used to applying layers, not enough practice time,
Drop Alsie a mail and you might be lucky!

Re: New top end for my RRW fighter
Cheers mate , appreciate your help. Am lookin at fitting just an interesting shaped light unit at the mo , or possibly an R6 top fairing, if I can get it for a good price. Thinking of giving it a more modern/ sci fi look. Here's a few pix of lamp unit held on with sticky tape;
I am gonna modify the bracket to hold clocks, lamp unit and a screen( to protect clocks).Whadya reckon?

Re: New top end for my RRW fighter
That looks smart m8.
Dont bother with the Cutdown Blade Fairing option. I binned a similar idea, it'll break the bank to get it to look right.
I've just upgraded the pocket torch bulb to a H4 to try n get some more candle power.
Fingers crossed I should get it wired in soon.

Re: New top end for my RRW fighter
Cheers mate , was really keen on a R6 fairing , but after having a look , it's too wide! Especially as I'm mounting it on the forks and top yoke. Gonna stich with the Gilera runner unit, 1 50watt low beam and 1 55 watt high beam. Gonna get a pair of high beam projectors either side underneath and then I just need a little fairing to protect my clocks!

I wasn't having much luck, got a nice chop of the blade fairing but couldn't paste it over your bike well enough.
Looks like you have a plan now tho, looking forward to seeing it!

Re: New top end for my RRW fighter
I am sticking with the Gilera light unit for now, but I need a deflector to put on top of it to protect my standard RRW clocks. Don't wanna use the Trumpet binnacle th on it. Any ideas?

How about buying some fibreglass & trying your hand at making one mate, it's not terrible stuff to use & you could end up with a result you'll be really happy with?

Re: New top end for my RRW fighter
Thanks gents , just want summat to difflect any rain thats about away from back of the clocks. Think I'll end up making summat outta fibreglass eventually, but I just need summat to bolt onto the two lugs on top of the unit for the time being? Has anybody got a bit of curvy/angular ABS or fibreglass lying around or I may end up buying a piece of thin perspex . Trying to stick with the sci-fi / predator type look if I can. Haven't seen any cb1000r stuff on eBay yet FBF, but I'm gonna keep lookin.
