Re: What the bloody hell is it?
I honestly think that your build deserves a place here mate totally.Ok,its not actually Fireblade as such, but you came to this site, like me,and found the site to be friendly and like minded.I have been to other sites, and been alienated by my lack of knowledge and skills.I also think it helps to give a bit of variety too and we all learn and get ideas from each other. We both own Fireblades too{and fingers crossed, may continue to do,so i guess we are eligeable to be here!Perhaps it is that connection which draws such like minded people together.Keep up the good work.Perhaps you need to change your name to Firebladedave as well?

Re: What the bloody hell is it?
Fair enough lads, see what you think.
I took the tank to my local paint suppliers after white dots appeared all over the bodywork and wouldn't cut out.
They directed me to a local sprayer who used to do all Premier Bikes work.
Unfortunately he was also at a loss but thought it must have come through from the gun, so now I have an additional filter at the gun.
Well I managed to get the clearcoat resprayed about an hour ago much to the annoyance of my sadsack neighbour whose carrier of watching Jeremy Kyle is progressing very nicely!
Thankfully this time round I've not got the problem!
Anyway another hour or two and I'll be able to get them out the garage.
Not sure whether to paint 750 on the sidepanels or pinstripe them or do both.
I'll post up some pics after they are in place and then see what you think.

A fine looking job you've done there.Well done indeed. How did you manage to avoid the dust from the concrete floor?I take you didn't spray it all with water?

Re: What the bloody hell is it?
The orange peel effect will reduce some when I cut it back tomorrow with cutting compound but Fringe is absolutely correct, if the finish is too good it won't look authentic (that's my excuse anyway).
If I look really deeply I can make out the speckles that caused the rework effort so must be in the black, consequently another reason to go easy on the cutting back!
The colours were the closest I could get to the Norton Commando, VAG Brilliant Black and Mayan Gold.
Years ago I'd go overboard cleaning the garage including roof underside and still get dust inclusions.
Now I just sweep the area a few times and then panel wipe and tackrag before spraying. There are inclusions but if bad after polishing I'll get them (hopefully) with 2000 grit wet'n'dry.
Found some more (though old) 2K clear so will rework the front mudguard tomorrow.
That should amuse my moaning neighbour.
He must have enjoyed the sound of our headboard banging against the adjoining wall last night at 1:30.
Poor sod sleeps alone and we've been at it like rabbits all this last month which Mandy thinks is the real reason for his moaning about "another" noise!
I'll post up some pics after cutting back and maybe mount them too to show the look.

Re: What the bloody hell is it?
Well I got the tank and sidepanels cut back and compounded today, but it got too warm to be arsed to do the seat unit.
Flattens a bit doesn't it and makes them a bit more presentable?
Obviously not to professional standards but I don't think its not too shoddy for a Sparks.
Decided I'm going to have some decals on the sidepanels saying 750 in the Norton font, so will relaquer the front mudguard at the sametime as I do those rather than wasting laquer.

Re: What the bloody hell is it?
Thanks lads.
Bit of an update.
Decided I wanted 750 on the sidepanels using the "Norton" font.
Freely available to download of the net, I printed out a few of various sizes until I was happy.
My neighbour gave me some clear vinyl, so I stuck the printed numbers on and cut out with a razorblade.
Then laid the vinyl exactly where I wanted the numbers to appear.
Then painted over with the gold paint.
Removed the vinyl and what a bloody mess!!!!!!!!
Paint migrated under the vinyl and turned it all to crap, so now it all needs reworking!
Oh well big deal; at least my parts arrived for the RRP at last, so now my attention switches to that for a few days.

Re: What the bloody hell is it?
No big deal Griz, it's unfortunate that I've run out of paint for the rework but I can take more time with it now with the RRP to finish.
I've still got to figure out a decent mounting arrangement as well for the seatpan to the seat unit and then get that off to Mr Fringe to weave his magic, bless him!
