Looking good russ!!
Thats how I learned, in at the deepend! I think it's the best way to go about it
Are you going to coat the bare CF with clear resin??

Re: My 08 Blade Mods.
I couldn't be asked to start making parts from carbon fibre, far too messy for my liking
Hope it turns out well for you, looks good so far

Re: My 08 Blade Mods.
I was planning on only using 2 layers but alas I totally cocked that piece up earlier when I marked it up for trimming wrong so back to the drawing board :(
However can anyone suggest a national business that sells sheet metal what I am going to do for the next one is make the template out of metal and make another one a bit bigger to go over the top and then when I lay up the carbon squash them together with clamps to keep it flat and compacted.
I am only after some 1mm or 2mm tin or copper perhaps or anything similar that will bend easily enough but retain its shape. Unless anyone has a better idea I can pinch?

Re: My 08 Blade Mods.
I managed to get some 2 mm ali plate for a few quid off local fabricators so will see how that goes, got another place getting me some 1m galvy to use in the event of this not being good enough to use.

Re: My 08 Blade Mods.
Sounds like you have a bit of a plan there mate!
Dunno much about making stuff like that but do a search on utube at vacuum bagging as I think this is the best way to make the CF hold it's shape

Re: My 08 Blade Mods.
I looked in to vacuum bagging and funny that I have some vacuum bags here from when we went on holiday so "ghetto or not" its worth having a play with some of the smaller ones once in the mould, thanks for the reminder.

Re: My 08 Blade Mods.
I put mine back on the dyno this morning to see how things had changed since putting the blue flame exhaust on and it wasnt as drastic as I first suspected, It is running leaner now but this is with no power commander just a straight swap, the power and torque are marginally affected but it should be fine for the odd few rides I have between now and feb when I get the PCV and custom tune done.
Sounds lovely in the flesh video off the phone just doesn't do it justice, but I like me videos so here it is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcDWYZmeCmA
Steve @ Seastar will do his best to dial it out and we can go from there, overall very pleased with the results at least I know its not going to knacker the injectors on it whilst riding in the mean time I just have to pick a lower gear and sit higher in the revs
