just bought a new bike....gone to the dark side
It was so cheap,....I had to buy it
but its
its,....
its a....
Kawasaki
I Know,..I know.....
I've never had a kwak...but cheap as chips, and I can rip it down and make a track bike for a trip back out on the track this year.
Its just been toooooo long....
so,..I'm in need of cheap trick bits and other bobs..
its an old bus...but won't matter too much if it ends up cartwheeling down Craner or Mansfield at some point.
I've heard the standard panels are quite rare...ebay here we come...panels for race panels...cushty!
20 years old,..33k...been stood for a year...nice standard find.
time to get the spanners out
(actually they are all out allready....maybe time to gather vthem all up and put them in a pile next to the ZXR)

Re: just bought a new bike....gone to the dark side
Sell it, the zxr brigade will like its originality.
Or if you want a project, a zx9 engine will fit sort of, or a crank from the p series engine, will turn this one to 793cc
Whats made you look at going back on track again ?

Re: just bought a new bike....gone to the dark side
if its too original...and can be made pretty,...I'll chuck it on ebay and see what happens. would make a couple of hundred quid over what I paid i recon, at least.
been stood,...so new battery, plugs, carbs cleaned, clean the filter, new oil, squirt of oil down the barrels....should be fine
shame the frame is polished,...I hate polishing, and its not standard. but...we'll see.
whats it worth? 900...grand?

Re: just bought a new bike....gone to the dark side
and the track,....I've got all the gear still,...have been doing the streetfighter thing for years now,...just feel like I need to have a fussy on the track.
was gonna hire a bike,...but what a rip off THAT is!.
been looking at old cbr6's, cheap blades,..and even CB500's..
this was too good a deal to pass up.
I WILL go on a track this year....oh yes...

Nothing wrong with a Kwak for the track, I've a old ZX6 f3 as a track bike and it does a great job.

Re: just bought a new bike....gone to the dark side
Zx6 will be about the cheapest, r6 a bit more, as alot of the early ones end up in pi series.
Out and out track bikes, especially with a v5, have gone up since the antics at brands, with all the ones without frame numbers getting confiscated, so the "its not for road use guv" bikes have disappeared.
Stick a grand on the zxr, then see what happens.

Re: just bought a new bike....gone to the dark side
yeah might just do that.
not my ideal track bike,..but might be a stepping stone to one.
I had an R6 ex wss back in the day....hated it. cost me a grand everytime I rode it ( and 2 bust fingers!...2 highsides in one day! but I put that down to Michelins...hate them too!)
ideally I'd like a ex raced 750 or 600 with sorted suspension. but I've got ZXR money!
its a start!
