R1 Fork Brake wheel conversion
thought i'd add a few pictures up off the bike and the beginnings of my r1 front end conversion, the R1 stem has now been pressed out and replaced by my new ebay rrw stem as the old one was knackered with stripped threads, and i've slipped the forks in oh and drilled out both security bolts on the ignition barrels. Sadly that was all i had time for this weekend as there just is not enough hours in the day! I did get to fly a helicopter though so that did beat fiddling with the bike just!
What has become apparent though is that i am going to need a spacer made up for the top yoke as the Blade stem is a lot thinner than the R1 there is a space between the spindle and the top yoke, does any one on this site know anywhere that could make a spacer up i hopefully have added a picture somewhere with the dimensions.

Re: R1 Fork Brake wheel conversion
I had the stem pressed out of the GSXR1000 yoke & had a rrw pushed in. I got the powder coaters to weld me some new steering stops I made as the original steering stops were in the wrong place & they also managed to get a engineering shop to make me a new stem nut which has a spacer as part of the bolt if you know what I mean. The powder coaters I used was Reallity Motorworks of bristol, give um a bell if you can't find a local engineer shop that'll do it for you

Nope road bike, its in its race fairings cos i took some of those pictures before my silverstone track day in August.When/if it gets finished she'll probably be wearing R1 track fairings with an endurance style/projector headlight. in the candy orange with large metallic grey wings up the side and on to the tank but still lots to do before paint!

Well the front end is on but the list of things to do has got longer, the lockstops will now have to be welded rather than tapped and bolts as the cheap set of tap and dies I had floating round the garage snapped in the second hole about a mm from the end, so close and yet so far! the ignition barrel is going to be temporarily relocated to the fuel tap area so the wiring needs to be extended, till i get a r1 lock and key,or a spare blade lock and key to to play with as i have an r1 ignition barrel. spacer made as mentioned oh and the wheel straightened,

Re: R1 Fork Brake wheel conversion
Well its on and mot'ed, and back on the road. The biggest improvement has to be the brakes, so much sharper the handlings diffrent but in a good way seems to lean into the bends really progressively although have not really had a chance to be agressive with it yet.
Have to thank Cabbie for the spacer, Alpha welding and motoliner who did a really good job on the buckled front wheel, no paint damahe on quite a buckled wheel and same afternoon turn around.
