Re: My 94 Streetfighter Project
Thanks guys!
My mrs is very understanding but not that understanding! I would love it in our lounge though
IThe colour does look better outside doesn't it all I keep hearing is how red it is but I really like it, its a metalic finish so when there's not much sun around it looks dark & moody & when the sun gets on it, it really blings!
I never intended it to be a bling bike & would have happily had the same colour in a non metalic but its the best the powder coaters could come up with & I'm really happy with it.
I gotta rest up for a dew days now so I can muster up the energy to get it finished, I can't wait to get it on the road again

Sometimes I have no choice in the matter & right now I'm reaching that point so I'm gonna have to stop for a few days or I'll really start paying for it... Nevermind now I can sit in the garage & enjoy lookin at it

I'm away from my screen for a day or 2 n ya come up with all these AWESOME pix.
If ya connected those scoops up you'd loose a child down there!
Love the colour, love the stance too.
Wellard
When it's done can I have a go at Cartooning it?

Yeah it would probably pull the tarmac off the road!
As for the stance mate, I was some what surprised when I took it off the bricks & put it on the side stand, as what with the big rear tyre & higher rear ride height it now leans over loads further than before it does look very cool though
I'd love it if you could do a cartoon pic of it mate, that would be very cool!

You could just make a simple side stand extension plate to extend the stand?

Re: My 94 Streetfighter Project
That's great progress!
I'm looking forward to seeing it complete with mudguard, radiator, headlight and clocks from the front beacuse that tank makes the forks and wheel look skinny at the mo.
What are you exhaust plans again??

Agreed... It looks too good to ride, make a nice glass box for it and put it in the front room, tell the mrs it'll make a lovely ornament

Thanks mate!
I'm lookin forward to seeing it more together too!
The frontend is a little skinny & I'd like to at some point beef up it but A. it cost's a hell of a lot more money I don't have to do & B. it would slow down the steering to no end & as much as I want it to look mean I want it to handle too.
I'm using micron down pipes & a gsxr1000 shortened endcan & I've still yet to start work on the system but i'm sure I'll suss it
Here's the can I shortened, I'm hoping to mount it right under the engine but we'll see...

Are you going to have the headers ceramic coated in the same red?

I think they will stay as they are, I'm not sure if anyone could match the colour or how much it would cost to be honest.

Re: My 94 Streetfighter Project
Reality motorworks does ceramic coatings on exhausts-any colour I think
I had some Harris downpipes coated years ago,, really impressive.
Affects the exhaust gas temperature giving you more bhp too.

Yeah they do loads of stuff, I asked them about anodising my forks black when I picked up my powder coated stuff, I would have them done before I'd consider gettin more stuff done but for now I'm gonna get on & get it fit for the road as there comes a point when you gotta stop modding & start rebuilding
I do have more plans for the bike but most of it will have to wait until the end of the year. For now I can't afford anymore fancy stuff & would like to get it on the road to enjoy!

Re: My 94 Streetfighter Project
Hiya mate, I've had a few rough days after putting in to much time last week so I've not done a lot more. I've sorted my handlebars out & drilled them to be able to fit the switch gear & also wired up & fitted the the barend indicators, changed the old plugs for some nice new iridium ones & fitted the HT leads & also been playing with my new Flatside carbs which just arrived from the usa off ebay.

Re: My 94 Streetfighter Project
Ok I've made a bit more progress!
I fitted the flatside carbs & K&N filters. I'm not to happy with one of the filters as its a bit out of shape, but thats what you get on ebay!
I've also finished messin with the handle bars. This bike is seriously comfortable now! Well with the bodywork on of course!
Now I'm dealing with the joys of sorting out the wires. I went right over them before fitting them back on & found that a history of poor work had gone on! Not surprising as I expect it's had a few alarms fitted to it over the years & some of the fools that fit them don't do a great job:-
I stripped it down & solder on some new wires & used some heat shrink to make a proper job of it.
I then wired everything up on the bike to see where I need to start work... God I've got one hell of a lot of cutting & soldering to do!
This is how it stands now ready for me to sort the wiring out.

Re: My 94 Streetfighter Project
Thanks guys!
I'm still working on the wiring & it's all going quiet well! I've managed to make a battery box out of the old one on the mudguard & fix it nicely in the engine bay, I'm gonna need to put some kind of heat wall in though to stop the battery getting to hot I've sorted the lights, indicators, horn etc, the next big step is fitting the mini speedo
