Rockingham Empty Rockingham

Post by hondaron Wed 28 May 2008, 17:48

Did a track day at Rockingham yesterday, First two sessions in the rain, next two on a wet track, last session of the day on a dry track.

Really good track, really grippy in the dry, got carried away on the last lap of the day, Ended up in the gravel, I would throughly recommend this as a track day venue to all.

Met a couple of lads that go regular to rockingham and they rate it also,

Castle coombe is my next one in june, Roll on.........

I hadn't realised they did bike track days. Not too far for me either. Perhaps we should arrange something for next year.

Just had a look on Google maps. It looks like a somewhat compact course and has what I suppose the yanks would call a raceway around the outside. The post code if you want to have a look is NN17 5AF.

Looks promising and sounds it too.

It was built to stage the indycar championship a purpose made oval, which it did twice i think.
Its also got a track that the touring cars go on and bsb untill recently.
Not done a trackday on bike there, but prices seam ok.

I will probably go again this year, Ill let you know the dates, well worth the effort its easy to get to, not far off the A14, nearest town is Corby. We went there the day before and stayed in a hotel and got to the track for 7am.(which we normally do).

Keep us posted Hondaron it sounds like a good circuit. Not stupidly far from Luton either (straight up the A6 iirc).

I've heard good things about the Rockingham track (small = technical) - I would be up for a trackday there.

Don't think focused events have Rockingham as one of their tracks but i'm sure one of the other trackday companies do.
