It will no doubt go one of two ways. I will grow in confidence after my little off or I will be down in the doldrums

No worries mate, take it easy for the first few sessions, just feel out the braking points and everything.
Then build it up when your ready.
There will be faster people out there, always are, just do your own thing.

Absolutely.
I think it will be good to be able to have that gradual build up. I'm not going to pretend or even try to pretend I will be as quick as the rest.
Thanks again

I was up there last sat night. Great fun and as always I wonder why we don't do more track days. weather was superb as well!!
Might do the next one, if I can find some coppers down the back of the chair!

Re: Booked in to track night at Knockhill 5/8 eveing session
I've tried glueing the indicator casing which I broke but am not convinced it will hold for speeds along the two Knockhill starights on Wed's track night.
The indicator casing doesn't arrive until Tuesday or Wed. If it arrives Wed I can't see how I will have time to take the fairings off to replace it in time for the track day which I assume it will need to be fixed for.

Stick some tape over it at the track if you're worried. Tank tape cures all ills.

Re: Booked in to track night at Knockhill 5/8 eveing session
You might surprise yourself.
Good thing about a track day is it's not a race. You don't need to be the fastest, you just need to enjoy yourself.
If it's your first time on track deliberate go a bit slow at first, get used to being on track and where it's going. Take your mirrors off or fold them in, do not worry about what's behind you. It's worth taping over your speedo too, it can be a bit tempting to check how fast you're going and if you're going fast you want to be looking where you're going.

I'm hoping I can get back to how I know I can ride, I'll never be the festest or even try to be. Just want to enjoy it like you say
Is there a place to leave your stuff ?
I wasn't sure whether to take my clear visor (always run with my tinted visor) and tape etc for the indicator
Check the tyre pressures tonight

It's basically the first time back on the bike after my little incident
I'll have the ride to KH prior to the track time

It will come back to you very quickly. Especially on track where you don't need to worry about oncoming traffic, road defects and speed limits. You'll have a ball.

Thanks again Tazfiend - is there anywhere to leave your stuff, if you decide to take anything, e.g. spare visor / mirrors if you take them off ?

Re: Booked in to track night at Knockhill 5/8 eveing session
There's a room under race control where you can leave stuff, where they keep all their helmets. It's not secure as such, but it's pretty safe. (That's the green building below the loos at the far end of the car park from where you enter).

Re: Booked in to track night at Knockhill 5/8 eveing session
Not sure how much track time you get but would assume about half a tank will be sufficient to do the night & get to a garage before the trip home ?

Make sure its full, you wont belive how much fuel it will use in a few sessions.

I usually hit reserve during my fourth session from a brimmed tank. Get about 25mpg.

So it could be a long walk after the session
Do you normally fill up at Dunfermline, think that's the closest station to Knockhill, plus v-power !!!

Re: Booked in to track night at Knockhill 5/8 eveing session
I'm usually coming over Kincardine Bridge so I fill up just before that. If I'm only doing a morning I can just about limp back there on vapour, although it's touch and go. These days I'm usually there with a mate who brings his bike in a trailer and has a jerry can of fuel.
I've never bothered with higher octane fuels, mostly because I'm tight and grudge paying the extra. :p

Right enough.
Dunfermline should be fine, if not then it's a long walk
