Dude, you wont regret it. I was there a coplue of times in 95 and 96 its a fantastic place. Remember if you watch from the mountain once your're up there your there for the day until they reopen the road so take your waterproofs!
Also watch the speeding in the towns and villages they vigorously, I mean really vigorously enforce the speed limits and you have to pay the fine before you leave the island.

Never been. It's on a list. Watching TT Close to Edge end of last year did get me very excited about the opportunity. One day.

Re: Isle of Man TT 2012
Hi, I'm going on the bike. I will be there for some of practice week, ferry and camping booked. At the moment I'll be there from Friday 25th May until Wednesday 30th. Got the ferry for £99 return (it's known as 'TT Taster' ad camping cost me £40 for 5 nights. Apart from fuel and food/drink, it's quite a cheap excursion.

Would love to go... Not sure the missus will sign off a 5 day excursion though perhaps 2-3 days. Better get my holiday form in to her early!

Re: Isle of Man TT 2012
I've posted details on other forums for anybody thinking of going, at the moment I'm on my jack.
If any of you are thinking of going to the TT in 2012, I'm just letting you know that I've booked my ferry and camping place for some of Practice Week. Couple of reasons for this. Firstly it's cheaper, I got my return ferry (May 25th Liverpool to Douglas -30th May Douglas to Liverpool) for £99. It's advertised as 'TT Taster' by Steam Packet who are found here: http://www.steam-packet.com/
Secondly it's already becoming very difficult to get ferries for the start of race week (2-8th June) and to get camping. As for hotel/B&B/house share, good luck. People tend to book a year in advance.
I've booked a camping pitch for 5 nights at: http://www.isleofmanttcamping.com/
Cost:£40. It's less than five minutes walk from the TT Grandstand, approximately 1 mile from Douglas town centre and promenades.Clean toilets and hot showers, secure mobile phone charging lockers, a catering tent serving breakfast and dinner.
So all in £140 for 5 nights on the IOM. For those days, here's the practice schedule:
Saturday, May 26 Solo Newcomers (all solo classes) Speed Controlled Lap Lightweight / Newcomers (all solo classes) Qualifying Sidecar Newcomer Speed Controlled Lap Sidecar Free Qualifying
Monday, May 28 Superbike / Superstock / Supersport / Newcomers (except Lightweight) Qualifying Sidecar Qualifying
Tuesday, May 29 Superbike / Superstock / Supersport / Newcomers (except Lightweight) Qualifying Supersport / Lightweight / Newcomers (all solo classes) Qualifying Sidecar Qualifying
So plenty of opportunities to see the racers going hell for leather. The rest of the time can be spent in Douglas enjoying the atmosphere or riding the circuit at your own pace. If any of you are interested in going, book soon as I have a feeling that ferries and campsites are going to be gone in the foreseeable future. If you go and however you get there, I'll get you a pint when I see you! Let me know on this thread if you're interested in meeting up for a pint or going for a ride.
I'm booked on:
Fri 25 May 11:15am Liverpool - Douglas
Wed 30 May 1:45pm Douglas - Liverpool

Re: Isle of Man TT 2012
Hi lads, i,ve been going to the TT every year for some time now. Every year i make it to about january saying i,ll probly do something else this year, but i guess thats what the TT bug is , ounce it gets hold of you its hard to leave it. If you want i quick look at what you'll enjoy on the riding side i put a lap i recorded on a go pro cam, couple of years back on you tube , type in neilrrtfireblade its the first clip, you'll have the time of your life and nothing will prepare you for the buzz of seeing the top lads nailing past you at 190 odd, i'm goin on friday 25th to wed 30th on practice week as you dont get much chance to ride race week. I dont want to sound like a tart but you really do need to be carefull with your speed anyware other than the mountain as they have clamped down on it in recent years, hope all of you who are thinking of going get over ok, if you do go woodzy trust me it'll be even better than you can imagine.

Sound brill. I've wanted to go for more than 20 years but not had the chance. I'm taking my gopro for a lap or two. I had the same thoughts as you about getting more riding time during practice week. Strangely enough I'm going the same days as you, I'm staying on a campsite in Douglas if you let me know before I could say hello at some point.

Re: Isle of Man TT 2012
One of the main reasons we are going by plane is the journey for me from Brighton is roughly 260 miles so I thought we could do a reccy this year and plan the trip for 2013 early although I go to Moto GP events each year so it will be a decision next year over practice week at the TT or Catalunya GP.
