Re: Updating my RRW
ha!! I bet it was!
Perhaps Mique will be able to shed some light on that....
Glad you got out at least and fingers crossed for Sunday.

Try a new set of plugs LC, I had lots of starting problems with the boxer after build, a new set of plugs and started first touch of the button!

Re: Updating my RRW
Thanks James, yes it's annoying was worried about turning it off just in case it wouldn't start! Could be worth trying the plugs cabbie, when I put it away last year it wouldn't start at the petrol station the last time I took it out, put it down to the battery then which was one of the reasons I bought the new one.. Have iridium plugs they are only 4 5k on them but could be worth changing to be sure..

Re: Updating my RRW
In both videos the battery appeared to have trouble in turning the motor over quickly. If the motor barely cranks over the quality of the spark is impaired to fire up cleanly. I would try another battery as you mentioned earlier John it did struggle even with the plugs out.

Re: Updating my RRW
Ok thanks mique, it could be the cold as lithium batterys don't like it.. wasn't realy expecting to be running it in winter temps!! I've read to leave the lights on before starting to warm the battery before trying.. seems crazy I know

Unlikely Aitch.
The current blades have a tiny battery with a 7 amp rating yet turn over motors in the excess of 12:1 CR. 2004-07 models had 8.6 amps. LC's model YTX9BS has 8amps. All evidence is pointing to this Litty battery.

Re: Updating my RRW
Yep personally think the battery and the cold weather are the cause, will wait until it warms up and if its still problematic will try the old fashioned 12v lead acid. not easy to swap my battery as its located right under the tail so wil wait for the weather as can't face striping it all down already haha

Even before this rebuild your bike was a stunner even reluctant to touch your machine in case my dirty hands soiled your bike. Now your talent and skills has shone through and hope it goes as well as it looks so I bag the first test ride when its run in. Now where's our summer

Re: Updating my RRW
wow thanks very much guys, mique your all booked in for a test ride matey
Paul I think im done with it now and have promised the missus I wont be touching it again next winter, but seeing some nice RSV4's today im quite tempted trying an RSV4 tail on it next year haha.
Had a good ride today, done a full tank now think ive done 130 - 140 miles ish. Bike is running lovely, engine still smooth as butter. had it up to about 6k now max and its pulls very strong cant wait to open it right up can already see keeping the front end down going to be fun handles great too!!
Went too loomies again today attracted some attention was riding with the brother inlaw tt legends rr10 so made a good pair was very cold though as dont have any proper winter gear being a fair weather biker haha
Bike starting when warm wasnt too bad today, avoided any embarrassment when I left loomies

Re: Updating my RRW
Well final piece of the puzzle, buddy finished the exhaust mount:
Decided to go black as its in keeping with the subframe, also had some probolt bling left over so made use of it, also had 2 ti rear disk bolts left over so used them to mount it
Now done 210 miles on her and im very impressed, started taking the revs up to 8k yesterday at one point and shes a quick one!!

Bloody road hog, you'd give bikers a bad name 8 thou in top equates to 140mph.
