Re: Updating my RRW
well this little beauty arrived in the post today with the caliper and mounting bracket.. Looks like theres no going back!! Going to weigh it in comparison to the 800 arm and compare the lengh also. Need to give it a good clean up and check those stickers are not hiding any damage

Re: Updating my RRW
More progress already, trial fit to the bike. I need to remove a bit more from my frame on the right hand side, about 1mm should do it as at the moment its on without the spacer on the left had side and this is needed to keep the chain run in line. The CBR swinging arm bolt is all the same size so thats easy Just need to work out what rear wheel spindle I need to buy.. Im thinking cbr929/945 as the 95 blade one is too thin and isnt wide enough for the swinging arm holes? Need to ask some breakers to measure the length of the 929 to be sure its going to clear with the RSV chain adjuster blocks.
Pics time
Its at I thought the shock is going to hit the arm when its in use, I will speak to my buddy see if he can cut a small section out of the swinging arm and add a plate.
both wheels reunited as a pair at last! its like an old fashioned love story haha

Re: Updating my RRW
Looking good mate, sad to see the sssa go. Could you not ghange the shock for one with a horizontal or remote res to save modding the arm? Cabbie might be your man for spindle info, go with the gold wheels

Re: Updating my RRW
Thanks Clive, ive been unsure about it myself but after seeing it all assembled today im very happy with it.
I could change the shock and thats plan B should my buddy advise against it, but really want one with the remote preload adjuster and dont want to spend anymore cash.. Not sure I would get enough for mine to fund it alone..
Out of interest for those who care, I weighed it all today, the SSA was 33lbs all in but remember thats the hub and disk included. The RSV arm weighs 13lbs and the stock 900 arm weighs 13.5lbs. The calliper & bracket on the RSV is 1lbs lighter than the CBR one so 1.5 saving total over stock but I suspect the RSV arm is more rigid.

Re: Updating my RRW
Might be a silly question but why didn't you get an rsv OZ wheel? it would have dropped straight in and the rear brake would just bolt up to!

Re: Updating my RRW
Yes I did consider it cabbie but already had the OZ front and the rear came up cheap to make the pair. Also didnt want to rip of everything you had done.. I believe I may have to shave some material of the inside of the calliper with this correct? Any other pit falls im going to encounter?

Re: Updating my RRW
Fitting the rear caliper is a Royal pain in the arse, space the disc out 2mm, slot the hols in the caliper, machine the under side of the caliper, proper head f**k, unless you get a new caliper hanger made that holds the caliper 6mm further outwards to clear the wheel!

Re: Updating my RRW
Ah thanks Cabbie will look forward to that fun then.. Anyway to make some sort of spacer to space the caliper away from the bracket do you think or would that not do the job?

Re: Updating my RRW
No you need to fit 2x 1mm washers behind the disc and machine the sides off the caliper where it bolts to the holder, you really might be better off getting a new holder made up

Re: Updating my RRW
thanks Clive, want to stick with these ones though as they are super light and are forged. Can work around the calliper fitment im sure, I know Scotty also machined some off the calliper and got it to fit. I like a challenge

ment to say also that the piggyback sits across the top of the shock not downwards like yours does and looks alot like an ohlins

Re: Updating my RRW
Thanks Stephen, ive dropped the arm around to my mate whos going to cut a section out and weld a plate so can use the shock I have.
I know I could have changed shocks but I really didn't want to as that ones been refurbed and has the remote preload adjuster.
He's also making the shock triangle spacers and doing some mods to my yoke. Wont be done until Weds / Thurs so all stop until I get it back.
Oh I need some custom bolt with a 55mm shoulder, anyone know a company who makes custom bolts?

Re: Updating my RRW
Looking good there mate will you be fitting an exhaust hanger ? I was going to take mine off, would it have any effect other than making it easier to remove? Im sort of worried about the excess travel an unsupported can would have. Cheers Wes

Re: Updating my RRW
I never had one with my old stubby can but that was supported under the frame as it was on the stock headers. As you know with the akro this isnt there.. Im intending to make up a custom one as I want the exhaust routed at that sort of angle as per the pic, I have the mounts on the subframe there for this purpose as I could have removed them (did the other side).
For your new little stubby I would think you maybe ok without it.. or add a brace to the headers and just mount in the stock location maybe?

Re: Updating my RRW
Well slight hickup today with this arm fitting, got my modded arm back from my buddy and all looked good so I fitted it all going well, until I came to add the shock and it still bloody catches!! So now im on the look out for an RSV Ohlins to replace my R1 ohlins. Looking at an RSV4 ohlins on ebay which could be game on so fingers crossed..
Need to sell my Ohlins to fund the new one so anyone fancy an R1 ohlins for £300 nicker? Will be going on ebay tomorrow after some pics.
