Now then

Anyone fancy meeting up this w.end Sat 9th or Sun 10th October ?

Anywhere from Matlock to Hawick, Blackpool to Bridlington or anywhere in between, not bothered. Haven't met anyone off here yet and it'd be good to put faces to names, have a chat over a cuppa and go for a spin woot

Now then

Had a ride out with a couple of lads today, Dave on a 1200 Bandit and Joe on a 98 Blade. Set off at midday in cloudy, dull conditions. Rode via Darlington, Barnard Castle then took the B6278 through mist, into thick fog as we climbed and out of it as we dropped down into Stanhope. Left onto the damp A689 to Alston then left again onto the A686 up to The Hartside cafe. As we climbed we rode into fog again, a real 'p souper' hammer
As we parked up we noticed the wind, which hadn't been an issue while riding but was quite strong on top of the hill, enough for us to park the bikes against the wind. There was a few bikes in the car park, some push bikes, a couple of cars and the cafe was full.
A quick snack and a cuppa and we headed down the snaking road towards Penrith. Three corners from the cafe and the fog disappeared, the sun popped out and the road was bone dry dance This was more like it, being able to ride the bikes as they were intended with confidence. Next we took a left just short of Penrith, in Langwathby, the B6412 then onto the A66 to Brough, South to Kirkby Stephen and then the B6259 where the sun went into hiding. We turned left onto the A684 and stopped for a drink in the PennyGarth Cafe at Hawes.
It was cloudy again but the roads were dry thankfully and we made our way back to Thirsk via Leyburn, Bedale and Northallerton.
All in all a good day's riding, which finished better than it started weather wise sunny and the Sportsmart's were impeccable on every road surface and road condition today, without one single moment

Roll on tomorrow thumbup

Now then

What a day

Lesley and Me on the XJR met Dave-1200 Bandit, Darren-CBR600 and Barry-Monster 600 for a ride out today. I led through Northallerton, along to the A19 and up one junction then off at The Tontine and up the A172 to Stokesley. It was mild and bright but we were heading towards cloud by the look of the sky in front of us. The A173 took us to Guisborough passing the Shark fin shaped Roseberry topping and then the A171 took us up Birk Brow, past the Lockwood Beck and Scaling Dam reservoirs before peeling off left onto the B1266 and fog but not for long thank god as we dropped down Lythe Bank into Sandsend the weather cheered up. It was a little too cool to sit out but it was brighter on the beach side as we got a table in the seaside cafe for a hot drink and a snack. Joe turned up on his Blade after setting off late.
We headed down the coast a short way with Dave leading the way and turned inland at Whitby onto the A171 then took a left onto the A169 over the moors past Goathland (Heartbeats Aidensfield), up Saltergate Bank and around the top of 'The Hole of Horcum', a massive natural amphitheatre that was carved out of the rock of the North Yorkshire Moors by the action of glacial ice flows. It was unbelievably busy with traffic coming the other way, so mkuch so that we could hardly overtake any where for about 18 miles, it's not even that bad in summer
Straight on through Pickering to Malton, south west through Norton and onto the B1248 turning right onto the B1251. As we headed away from the roundabout we noticed a brand new unmarked, white T5 pqarked in a gateway, a new police toy Through Fimber and we stopped at Seaways cafe on the junction of the A166 at Fridaythorpe. It was busy and the sun shone 'bright as a button' . One bike in particular stood out for me at the cafe, an old guy on a cafe racer that looked beautiful

Another cuppa and a sarnie then we filled the bikes up and headed for Sherburn and Squires Cafe. Darren left to head home as we set off and then there were 4. Along the A166 through Stamford Bridge and we saw another unmarked T5 which had a couple of bikes pulled over and then the same one we had seen at first, further down the road, lurking A short hop along the A64 south of York and onto the A19 through Escrick then the next right onto an unnamed road which turns into the B1222, a belting road that takes you through Cawood and Sherburn right to Squires. It was lovely and warm at Squires, enough to sit outside here and soak in the atmosphere with a cuppa

Back to Sherburn next then a left onto another unnamed road which took us to the B1217 where we turned right and joined the A162 at Towton. Along the road a short way then back onto the A64 before the A1237 and then the B1224 heading west. We rode a couple of back lanes which took us onto the A59 and then we turned right onto the B6265 to Boroughbridge. Another couple of unnamed back lanes and we finished with a flat out blast down the 2 mile straight past Topcliffe Camp and home.

There won't be many, if any days like this one left this year and one to remember for all the right reasons

What a day dance
