Re: My new paintwork
Thanks mate, spent all day yesterday refitting the brake lines and bleeding them. Still not fully bled. Will sort them today and then get back to the fairing brackets. Should be ok for pix on Thursday or Friday.

Re: My new paintwork
Quite a hooligan Alan, lol. love the photo matey.
A while ago I changed my front break lines for steel braided jobbies from Venhill. I bled off the old fluid and stripped off the old lines, then fitted the new ones. That was easy enough. I then filled the master cylinder res and tried to bleed the new hoses through. Three hours later and I'm getting a bit fucked off because what ever I try, nothing!
After a bit more baldy head scratchin I made a call to tomanyprojex on ASF and he advised me to take off the calipers from the forks and hang them above the res. As it turns out its easier to pump the air up and out rather than down. So within a few minutes the oil was bled through. Top marks to Mike.
I reattached the calipers and gave them another quick bleed and job, jobbed!

Re: My new paintwork
i dont have to use the keys for my bike cause i wired in an alarm and immobiliser thats got a remote start there very cheap so maybe you could think about getting one and putting the ignition right out of the way?
heres the one i got, its mainly for the novelty of starting it with the remote. i wouldnt have bothered if it didnt have it

Re: My new paintwork
You've played a blinder yet again mate. Spent all day,on and off, trying to bleed the bastards and still as bad as ever! I'll try Tomany's way tomorrow. I did modify my quiet stubbly so that the end pipe angle is correct and it sounds good, not too loud to wake the neighbours at 0630 in the morning, but loud enough to announce my arrival!

CBRRRT wrote:swap the left hand switch gear for a VFR 750 or a CBR 600 and intergrate your choke, I did!
does that mean that with this switch gear the choke will stay on and not fall back down like the irritating standard ones? and all you need is the switch gear that will plug straight into the old plug?

Taking calipers off and putting above works, but I find it easier after fitting new lines and a few pumps to slightly loosen the banjo whilst holding the lever halfway in - you'll hear a load of air come out....use the banjo like the caliper nipple - it works a treat. You can then fine tune your bleed from the nipple.

Re: My new paintwork
Tried that today FBF, like Masterbater showed me when he did my service last year. I opened it too far and let loadsa air in. Shoulda bought a reservoir banjo with bleed nipple.!!!

Re: My new paintwork
Just hung the calipers up in the air to let the air make it's way up to them for bleeding. Johnathan, how did you bleed them with em hangin in mid air?

Re: My new paintwork
Pump away on the lever to assist the ascent of the bubbles for a few minutes, then slowly bring them back down to Mega level, or get a step ladder, or some stilts. Make sure you read the health and saftey at work act first!!!! no standing on a wheeled chair or other type of dangerous prop as you need to look after that knee.

Re: My new paintwork
Thanks FBF , but with the calipers hangin in mid air you have to have the bleed pipe hanging into a jar, then open and close the bleed nipple whilst pumping the master cylinder. Not easy , but I managed it. Better , but not great yet! Will have another go later! Tried your method , but didn't improve matters!

Re: My new paintwork
If you look at my photo mate, you'll see a clear tube coming off the calipers into an old plastic bottle with holes drilled in the lid. I got a cable tie and zipped it round my throtle, but not up tight. I undid the nipple, pumped the lever, then to hold the lever closed I slipped the cable tie over it to hold it while I did up the nipple. If you can mate, it would make life much easier to get someone to pump the lever while you relese and tighten the nipple. Never relese the lever while the nipple is open or you'll suck air back up the line.
Open the nipple
pull the break lever and hold it on
tighten the nipple
relese the lever
Open the nipple
pull the break lever and hold it on
tighten the nipple
relese the lever
keep doing this untill there are no bubbles coming down the clear tube into the plastic bottle.
hope that helps mate.
