I've mentioned it before, but 10 of us are invading Fort William in the morning till Thursday. Staying at the travel lodge in the town centre, and will be doing a north & a south run on tuesday & wednesday. It hasn't been decided which we will do first, depends on the weather - fingers crossed it stays dry.
Catch you all in a few days

So many good roads to mention in that neck of the woods. Have you a route planned?

Had a good time but 2 of the lads got punctured radiators due to all the loose stones on the roads. We stopped at the five sisters petrol station & noticed them then. We were able to get some ce-lit which did the job of "plugging" the holes. Went across the a890, glen carron, 832 to Garve, down to Beauly then 82 back. Second day, Oban, lochgilphead, inverary, glencoe and back. The only down side is the Strathcylde Police are having a "downer" on bikers. We were stopped and lectured just before Oban for about 15 mins by a jumped up squirt in a marked van (not a camera one) then followed by an unmarked gray BMW 530. There was also a traffic car making its presence known in Oban while we had our lunch. Apart from that the weather was brill and will probably be going there again next yr

Bummer on the radiators Stu,
It's the wrong time of year to be travelling around the west coast (ACCORDING to the owner of the B&B/garage that we stayed at 3 weeks ago). Suspect
The wifes CB1000r got a stone through it's rad when we were over on Skye.
He said we should come back after the summer holidays, after which the tourists have swept the roads clear "fancy asking the tourists to sweep the roads" eyebrow

BIG crackdown on bikers all over Scotland this year I THINK.
There's been a few bike crashes in the Aberdeen area, and each time we were out, there they were.
Give them there due, they never stopped us for can/plates or anything like that, but they were there showing face Cool (they're only doing what their told to do).

Cheers Silver, we're going to have a re-think about when we go up next yr now with all the stones. It runs expensive, 1 of the lads managed to pick 1 up on Ebay for £150, which is a lot cheaper than the dealer at £425.

Was an expensive weekend for me too, was suppose to be £434 from HondaUK, but after talking with our dealer, he managed to get a rad from Belgium at £366 delivered.
Then there was the cost of 2 new radiator guards from Bouwulf = £86 for the 2.
A lot cheaper than a new rad for my R1.
It could have been worse, everyones bike got splattered and why no one's light/lights got shot to bits, was just pure luck.

You need to look around August/September for next year Stuart.

same here, I have never had any stone damage to the radiators on any bike due to stones, so that leaves me wondering if your group riding is too close?....
As for the overselous cops, we have had 7 tourist biker deaths on the westcoast roads this year so far, people need to understand that Scottish roads are way different to the majority to the English roads.. It can oh so easy turn into another Yorkshire sinario which is something that is going to spoil it for us all.

I've spoken to some of the group, and agree with you Silver about changing the time we go. I think the only snag is people getting time off work in summer months.
Billy, we ride in staggered formation and always have a good gap between us. Every year our bikes end up with stone chips to the front of the bikes, lights etc. It did seem there were more loose stones on the roads this year than before.
