Re: GSXR 600 K5 tail conversion + quite a bit more in the end.
Got the front of the zorst hanger welded today and made the back two lugs, I'll get these welded tomorrow.
On brighter not about the crap 929 front end:
I located a good front wheel at D&K spares to day for £100 and they assured me it was perfect.
I'll be sending the forks to Firefox racing in the morning for a full Ohlins make over.
I gave the 929 front end seller the bill ($314) and he hasn't replied as yet so might have to take the paypal dispute to the next level, claim and let paypal decide

Re: GSXR 600 K5 tail conversion + quite a bit more in the end.
Got the new EBC front rotors, feather light 7075-T6 alloy's with vent's though the disc!, nice.
Got the rear wheel back from Motoliners and they did a superb job straightening, I painted it with the Scooby Doo gold and it looks awesome, just the clear coat to do.
I also did some more cutting to the Zorst as I wasn't happy with the angle the can was at, I'll get that welded tomorrow, I went to remove the swing arm for hot zinc spraying but didn't have a chain splitter, Oh well I'll buy one tomorrow and get it sent off Thursday.

Yeah, rotor looks very pimp.
Gotta hand it to ya cabbie, you certainly are a man on a mission and you don't dilly dally about, at this rate your Blade should be finished well before the Mayday run.

You can borrow my splitter if you pay postage. I usually use an angle grinder anyway! Where did you get the Scooby gold from?

Re: GSXR 600 K5 tail conversion + quite a bit more in the end.
Late March I think, so, today I got the Zorst hanger finished
The pipe adjustment welded
And re-built all three calipers ready for the Brembo pads
I got an email from NPS
Product/Description
OHLINS CBR900RR N-S 92-95 FULLY ADJ SHOCK
Code: 24411 Qty Sent: 1 Qty Owed: 0
BREMBO 07-HO-45-SC ROAD/TRACK SINT F PADS
Code: 49338 Qty Sent: 2 Qty Owed: 0
CARBONE LORRAINE 2296 RX SINT RR PADS
Code: 29610 Qty Sent: 1 Qty Owed: 0
The method of despatch was:
PARCELFORCE
(they spelt dispatch wrong)
It's all getting very exciting, didn't get the chain splitter though, £89 for a tool I'll use 2 or 3 time ever!! where's the grinder.

Email these chaps sales@wheelpaints.co.uk It's called "speedline gold" the same as the Subaru use but you'll need some etching primer.

Re: GSXR 600 K5 tail conversion + quite a bit more in the end.
Today I got a call from firefox racing who I sent the forks to Tuesday for repair saying they are not worth doing and are too badly damaged!
so thats the wheel and forks in the rubbish, that is the last time I buy any item without seeing it first and definitely the last time I get anything from the US, I don't have the funds for a new set of forks so the front end will have to wait now.

Re: GSXR 600 K5 tail conversion + quite a bit more in the end.
Things are back on track now, D&K spares delivered a perfect front wheel that I'm prepping for paint now, I've told firefox to go ahead and fully rebuild the mullered forks at a cost of £350 but at least I'll know they are 100% with Ohlins internals etc.
I got this today which cheered me up too
The zorst hanger is fitted (sorry didn't have the camera) and I've put behind me being ripped off by that Yank wanker.

Re: GSXR 600 K5 tail conversion + quite a bit more in the end.
Here's the blade side stand, nasty looking thing and won't go with the new look .
So this will be the new side stand, there will be a 12mm steel rod with an alloy tube over the top. I'll get the top part chromed.

Wow , you will be puttin a hell of a lot of load on it, is it strong in shear as well as compression?. Looks good as usual though, nice one!

Look at where the bike weight goes with a side stand, it goes straight down the stand so all the force is from top to bottom, there is zero sidewards force if you get the length correct.

Hang on Cabbie, that's what I was thinking, then my wife asked; what if you park on a camber?
That's a lot of work to risk, isn't it?

Re: GSXR 600 K5 tail conversion + quite a bit more in the end.
I know you know your shit but i'm afraid i couldn't trust that Acetal.
As yammydave wrote "Is it worth the risk"?
My old GSX1100R was just clipped by a car and ended up doing almost a quarter of a circle and left a big scratch in the tarmac without falling over, would you trust Acetal in a scenario like that.

Ok, first off, I always park in gear so there is no back or forward force on the stand, and it doesn't make any difference if you park on a camber, the force is always straight down the stand's shaft.
It's amazing how strong this material is, I have no worries over using it.

Re: GSXR 600 K5 tail conversion + quite a bit more in the end.
Put it like this, if my new stand and the old steel stand were strength tested I bet the standard one would bend around it's weld long before the Acetal snapped.
