So, spent the day freezing my but off christmas8

Some before and after pix, first fitting and went better than expected.

There is a small problem with the tank sitting 1/2 inch higher than it did but I can remove the spacer on the subframe to lower it back to where it was.

I fitted the new 3 spoke wheel too, the axle is too big but I just need to fit RR-R bearings and inner spacers, this new wheel will match the front 3 spoke coming with the new 929 front end I'm fitting

Sorry Cabbie after all the hard graft that has gone into this, no one wants to heap nothing but praise.
Seeing that you live in a flat as well, makes your efforts even more impressive.
No massive powered workshop maquerading as a garage for you to play in!

Please don't take this the wrong way, as it is only my opinion, for what it's worth and it comes from somebody who tends to prefer standard looking bikes at that!

The problem is I can't quite wrap my head round it at present without the lower subframe rails in place.
I find it is that off-putting.
The larger free area is giving the impression of an even higher tail than it probably is.
After about 20 minutes I started drawing them in place mentally, which helped, but still struggled with the bike on the paddock stand.

I know you're planning on changing the fairing, however at present I feel it's curves are clashing with the sharp lines of the seat unit and because the standard stuff is in such good a condition, it's out competing the look of the tail.

If all the decals were removed and a taller screen were fitted it might help to balance things somewhat.

Please don't view it as criticism, I have nothing but admiration for the work you have done and a certain amount of envy for your skills in the workshop.

Im definately loving that arse in the air look with that vast gap between the tail plastics & the rear tyre cabbie!
Although I must admit I prefer it with the standard wheels to the three spokes.

Yes Dave I also did a double take after stepping back and having a look but off the paddock stand it's not that bad and add the two lower subframe bars it look much better.
I guess it's one of those wait till it's finished and see kind'a jobs

Your exhaust can looks like its is a long way from the subframe now. Are you going to make your own longer hanger or fabricate something that fixes to the rear swing arm?

I hoping your gonna say the latter option cos I need ideas for supporting the can on mine. Lol

Fix to the swing arm!!!!!! the swing are goes up & down mate hubba

No, I've got a new stainless zorst and short carbon GP can, the can will be facing more upwards and it'll just need a bracket off the rearset like 3 inches.

I was thinking of a bracket with a kind of bushing to allow vertical movement from the swingarm but still support the can somehow.

Damn! Looking at all your goodies you must be throwing a heap of cash at this rebuild cabbie!

Check this out

Hot Zinc Spray

In the METALLISATION FLAMESPRAY process, the raw material in the form of a single wire is melted in an oxygen-fuel gas flame. This molten material is atomised by a cone of compressed air and propelled towards the workpiece.

The molten zinc spray solidifies on the component surface to form a dense, strongly adherent coating suitable for Corrosion Protection or component Reclamation.

Major advantages of the Flamespray process are that the zinc coating is available for almost instant use with no drying or curing times and there is no risk of damaging the component.

I've seen alloy shot blasted and hot zinc sprayed and it looks just like light gold anodising, think I'll get the frame and swing arm done

Little up date, I didn't have a place to work on the bike and was looking for a garage to rent local without any luck, a mate has said I can use his storage room but It'll need clearing, awesome, it's got a loo, sink and work bench, the down side is it's full of crap and will need several trips to the dump to clear it!

be back soon.

Had a small problem, I can't get the bike to the welder with the subframe in place to get the lower struts welded on, so I've made some brackets

I've pop riveted these to the subframe and now I can get all the welding done without the whole bike being there.

Now when the subframe is welded up I can fit it to the bike and make two struts the correct length and nut & bolt both ends.

All looking good, I've worked hard clearing my mates store room and the bike is in there now, I'll be taking the subframe to the welders Monday and hope to get the lower struts made and fitted Tuesday, be nice to see how it feels sitting on it, the seat is 30mm higher than it was which will suit me better.
I got a brand new RRY lower yoke with bearings and bolts etc for 100 and a good condition top yoke for 20 so I have all the parts for the front end now hyper
