Not quite a conventional mod but a laugh none the less.
I recently made a conversion on an ironing stool I had in the garage to make it easier for the mrs to work on her glass engraving and such like, the stool had a gnats fart of a seat and you could barely get your arse on there add to this the fact there was no foot rests (the little bar at the bottom was useless) it needed modification big style.
I have a stripped CBR600F (1987 Hurricane US Import aka jelly mould) I had it as a project a couple of years ago and got it up and running and then worked out how much it was gonna cost for me to do what I wanted and it was not worth it in the end so I stripped it and have been selling off the parts now and then.
What better way to show the love for modifications and bikes so I went rummaging through the stock pile and tried all manner of things to modify the stool.
I started with the seat.
I had to pull the rear forward to keep the cover in tact and cut the foam and plastic away to make it into a single seat and then wrap and glue/staple the cover back on to the new rear. After that I cut the underside down and made that level so it would position on the frame of the stool (which I had to drill out the poxy bit of wood they call a seat).
Using the seat base and the frame of the stool as reference points I drilled and put bolts into the seat and cut away at the frame of the seat to get them both to line up and be mounted as secure as possible.
I then used the original mounting brackets to mount the rear of the seat to the frame and drilled holes and bolted the brackets on.
I looked at the pillion rests and the rearsets to see if I could mount them but the tabs are out of line and I didnt fancy doing a bodge job so used a couple of angle brackets to place further down the legs for feet support.
Here is the build so far, its functional its comfortable and its just what the mrs was after.
TADA
As I had to check for stability and strength I got the cat to sit on it.
And she even managed to ride it backwards (super cat).
Needed a human test subject so Jen sat on it.
Ok so far so good it has not broken yet and seems quite stable, HOWEVER, I decided to give it a try and its comfy and stable and not broken so what better way to test a new chair than trying to see its max lean angle, I did manage to get it to balance just before the feet lifted up but as you can see I didn't manage to get my knee down just lift the feet a little.
I did look at the CBR600 engine but thought maybe thats just taking the piss a little too far.

That's a good effort Russ but I think it needs a monoshock conversion to take it to the next level!

Surely the CBR footpegs ought to go for better comfort as well.

I will probably mod the rear sets to fit but its usable in the mean time, The shock was sold :( so had no way of using that but I like the thinking I may have something to do the same thing (leaf spring style).
for those on a sanity check I work offshore but there is little work at the moment so need to pass the time and what better way than piss about in the garage.
