Re: Knockhill track day
I loved Croft last year (depsite my clip-on snapping and pitching me up the road at Hawthorn). It's less work than Knockhill, and the Jim Clark Esses are magic! Hope you're enjoying your day.pistollpete wrote:I'm in if you do it, loved Knockhill last time... got Croft tomorrow! nerves are picking up now!

Had a great day thanks Tazfiend
I went mad when i got home and bought myself a slot in the intermediate group at Cadwell park on the 2nd of June, the great bunch of lads from Carlisle i shared a garage with offered me a lift for my bike on a trailer, me and my lass will drive down... turns out an old friend of mine lives 20mins away in Grimsby so gona stop with him.
I may have to make this one the last track day of the year unfortunately, meaning i'll probably not make knockhill :(

Re: Knockhill track day
If I was going to Croft again I'd go for Inters too - once you find your way round it's easy to go fairly quick.
How come you're cutting your year short at June?

Re: Knockhill track day
Money is the only problem, we're suposed to be saving for our holiday in Egypt in first half of Oct.
ALso doing glastonbury. i'd love to do Croft again this year, i can ride there in 45 mins you should let me know if you're going Taz, know what you mean about going quick, i never did get Sunny in/out and the left hander after it right, theres a lot more speed to be had through that last section.
I found Knockhill easier to figure out... maybe because it was open pit lane so i did more laps and there are no groups- all in together- which is great for learning good lines from the fast boys!

Re: Knockhill track day
Sunny In and Sunny Out I thought were okay, you basically treat them as one corner and let the bike fly out wide of In and then pull it back in to the apex of Out. Nice long easy knee down, almost as good as Hawthorn. The left hander into the Complex I always felt I could have taken faster, every single time, but somehow couldn't do it.
I love Knockhill, I guess because I've done it a few times now. But it's much more tiring than Croft.

Re: Knockhill track day
well. it looks like there could be a few setbacks in store for us. there is a track evening on the 21st of july which is a Monday at the cost of £45. session is only 2 hours long and runs from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m.

Re: Knockhill track day
So four fifteen minute sessions then, as the evenings are usually Novice or Advanced. It's quite limited this year isn't it?
Re: Knockhill track day
it is pretty poor, though there is an option to hire the track for a full day as a club. its times like this where we should be thinking of a sponsor..i'll take it up with the admin and see if they have anything in the pipe line reguarding that, other than that i'll phone Gmma at Knockhill sometime this week and ask about cost and such.

Re: Knockhill track day
Around £1400 the last time the Ellon bike club hired the track for the day, and that was 3 years ago.

Re: Knockhill track day
Just thought i would post an update, sorry for the delay passin info but ive been busy with life and shit..ok heres the rub for Knockhill, the sessions are limited for this year and matters are made worse because Im trying to arrange the track day for a saturday session cos i know some folks will have to travel a fair few miles a 2 hour track session in the evening is out the window... the other alternative, is to hire the track for the day. that will cost in excess of 1400 of our finest scottish petrol coupons, which is a sum i cant fork out of my own pocket and then hope everyone turns up so i can recoup it...last and final option im looking into is having a track day at East fortune, at the mo im waiting on them getting back to me.

Re: Knockhill track day
I thought East Fortune had stopped doing track days a couple of years back?
How much in excess of £1400, and how many people are looking like going? I'm just thinking that for some point in the future we could look at an inter-forum track day with the Scots members of the CBR6ers, could end up a cheap day with enough people.
