To start with I'd best warn Cabbie it seems to stay away... things are a little bit too black for his likings here cheers

how I first saw it at the bike shop I bought her (rescue???) from

Well it all sorta started standard like... 27072011066

One largley standard 1998 RRW, in black...
She was in ok condition... bought her with the intention that she was going to get tweaked in the rear as the main thing.
My main criteria was that she had to remain useable as I ride to work everyday, which does create the odd issue as projects have to be planned with as minimum downtime...

but the main thing that I hated was there was loads of parts that had awful flaky chrome, (disclaimer alert), now it must be said I am not a fan of chrome, so to all those that love chrome look away now...

OMG I FECKING HATE CHROME ON A SPORTS BIKE

(and breathe)

So what did I do 1st?

and then I mocked the cans up to start modifying the mid pipe

These are standard R1 cans which I have debaffled and then had made custom carbon tips to replace the standard ones (reason being that I bought a set of cans with a dented tip
I have made new headers to go on as well...

I have an unhealthy obsession with Titanium fixings and replace them at every opportunity when I rebuild or replace something.
My current project is I am designing and making my own rear sets as I haven't found anything that i truly like out there, they all seem a compromised design... and yes all fixings are Titanium (i did tell you lol)

fairing stay has actually been removed this evening and is in the 'shop tomorrow going back to black...
forks, i plan on updating to USD and will be a combo of gold and black coatings, with a little bling in the form of Brembo monoblocks
Swingarm is already black as is th top yoke, i'll add a pic to show.
Well it all sorta started standard like... 2012-10-05-406
Well it all sorta started standard like... 2012-10-05-405
since this pic was taken i have since replaced the chain, rear sprocket and front sprocket
Frame, no, this will stay as anodised from the factory as i like the contrast and makes it all more monochrome.
Rearsets (foot rest hangers), i actually have parts in the machine shop making my own design as I could find anything i truly liked, everything all looked a compromise. So started from scratch and have design what suits me with no budget constrains or marketing men interfering with the design, bearings, rose joints and Titanium fasteners have all been ordered and starting to arrive Well it all sorta started standard like... 18990

I have the parts to do the F4i dash conversion, just need to measure the bloody bracket, but in the mean time i change the clock faces on the standard dash to blue

been a tad busy of late but have been working away at the old hack (bless her!!!)
So, had a few things in the paintshop... main item being the awful chrome (remember kids, real bikes don't have chrome!!!) fairing stay.
Well it all sorta started standard like... 2013-03-14-533_zps4f038ea9

I then swapped out the rear brake reservoir for a HRC item (less weight Wink )
Well it all sorta started standard like... 2013-03-14-541_zpsdea577f0

and I finally got round to actually doing my Bi xenon projector conversion. Both sides, lows and mains converted.
I found a really nice compact unit, with angel eyes for the side lights.
I went for a 6000k colour as it is white light and white angels. Although there were other colours available.
Annoyingly when the kit arrived it was minus the bloody ballast's. Seems it was cheap for this very reason!!!
So went on the hunt for 2 small micro ballasts to complete the job.
Well it all sorta started standard like... 2013-03-16-553_zps1721ea5e
main components.
Well it all sorta started standard like... 2013-03-16-555_zpsd20eab35
projector and the washer for aligning the unit within the headlamp. I must say I was pleased with the simplicity of the kit. there was no need to modify the reflector within the headlamp housing, as the projector had a large threaded collar on the reverse that secured itself through the washer shown above and I can still align the headlamps with the factory adjusters Very Happy
So I split the headlamp with the oven (no I didn't drop the oven on it). I will add a word of warning this can (and nearly did) totally feck up your headlamp, plastic doesn't like getting too hot...

and it works
Well it all sorta started standard like... 2013-03-16-561_zps0c7c74e8
and then just the angel eyes (side lights)
All in all this is not a job for the faint hearted as there is a serious amount of rewiring to do, as you need to run a new main feed from the battery and a new earth etc. Plus there is all the control gubins to hide and secure neatly but with fiendish patience it is well worth doing...

Took me all bloody day though and i still have the rest of the bike to get back together

I suppose if you got the right kit LC then all you would have to do would be to run a new live feed.
I chose to do mine the hard way and redo the looms that mine came with as I didn't like the plugs and wanted to reduce weight. More plugs meant more things I had to stuff into small places.
I would say the reattaching of the lens was the hardest part for me, nearly stabbed me fecking eye out when I slipped with a screw driver, thank god for all the black paint work as it doesn't show up the blood, geez it went everywhere hahahaha (is it taking the weight loss to an extreme by removing 1 eye? this is the kit I purchased from this seller. I got mine in a good amount of time, was happy with his service.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTORCYCLE-BI-XENON-HID-KIT-Angel-Eye-Projector-Lens-Universal-H1-H4-H7-/160748408783?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item256d5a0fcf

You'd need to purchase the ballast's but the loom was included in the projectors.

You'd need 2 of these kits.

Decided to take a couple of days holiday off from the grind at work and
what did I do? yup go into to work and do bike stuff lol Well it all sorta started standard like... Eek
So today (and tomorrow) I have had an exhausting day Well it all sorta started standard like... Evillaugh
Headers, cans and certain bits for the exhaust have already been addressed...

Today was all about the collector from the headers and nearly got it all done.
So I started with a plain piece of 38.1mm OD tubing (1.5mm WT)
Well it all sorta started standard like... 2013-03-27-579_zps359b9afc
Made some cuts
Well it all sorta started standard like... 2013-03-27-580_zps881e3d8c
got a bit tacky and joined them together lol
Well it all sorta started standard like... 2013-03-27-582_zpsc5f357c3
and voila 1 collector
Well it all sorta started standard like... 2013-03-27-591_zps975d9dd0
nice smooth transitions
Well it all sorta started standard like... 2013-03-27-590_zps3478b6c2
and fitted to the headers
Well it all sorta started standard like... 2013-03-27-585_zpsa8c51e0d

Tomorrow
see's the new headers fitted to the bike, along with the cans (again)
and I get to make the mid section and hopefully get it done (complete
like!!!)

Well I got as far as finishing the collector, added a swaged slip joint to the collector.
Well it all sorta started standard like... 2013-03-28-593_zps05e42dc0

I did a trial fit of the headers and all is good... managed to remove all
the studs and nuts without snapping any, 2 remained studs in
the head, so will need to spend a little time getting them out without
snapping them...
I am going to replace the stupid Honda studs with
stock M8 exhaust studs, what a stupid idea having an M8 one side and
what looks to be an M7??? on the other...
All Titanium of course Smile

Oh and I don't think I showed my lasered header flanges?

Well the exhaust is slooooooooooowly coming on but I have a small update Well it all sorta started standard like... 148544 I been measuring for a (very) lightweight bracket for
the F4i dash install and came up with this, had it water jetted from 4mm thick
6081T6 aluminium so it will anodise nicely (yes it will be black) but won't be
sending it off until I have machined all the bits for my rear sets, once I've
finished modelling them on CAD that is Well it all sorta started standard like... Rant

any way a pic?

Well it all sorta started standard like... 2013-04-16-608_zps97e48ff2

even though my dash has a face to suit the RRW I am still trying to find
another solution to get a custom colour without a logo.

I may yet try to scan it and print my own at this rate!!!

Nothing else to report other than I bought some nice Titanium studs and nuts for when I have finally got the new headers nailed to the engine for good (then can I go to the nice dyno man please?), good thing is they worked out bloody cheaper than the stupid M8/M7 efforts that Honda do as standard which I was v.pleased about but even if they where 20x more expensive I'd have still got them as I do have a Ti addiction lol...

Finally, finally.... FINALLY I can get rid of that awful bloody poxy side can that I have hated more than all the chrome on my bike it has been a long day coming
but feels oh so good, am quite giddy haha anyway I am sure you guy's don't want
me waffling (or even know at this stage what I'm on about!!!) on as we all want pics?

Well, we remember where we got to? I finished the collector...

so the headers and collector got fitted along with the exhaust tangs and
springs

Well it all sorta started standard like... 2013-04-20-614_zps852eedd9

and then we have the link pipe tucked up neatly under the sump

Well it all sorta started standard like... 2013-04-20-615_zps0b3428a7

up through the swingarm, close but doesn't rub, even when warm, I attached
the new link pipe to the original mounting so it is very secure and doesn't
move.

Well it all sorta started standard like... 2013-04-20-617_zps6e42472a

and flows into another collector (y pipe?) where it attached to the R1
can's

just need to polish the pipe and remove machining marks etc, then just 2
clamps to buy for the cans and all is done. It sounds a little louder than what
it was ( Well it all sorta started standard like... 396226 )
the neighbours are gonna love it at 5am hahaha and it spits and bangs more so on
the overrun than before so def needs a session on the rollers to optimise
everything but all in all job's a good 'un!!!
