Blade fighter
Ok, so with the help of Nutty (thanx Nutty) here's my idea for my Blade.
Soz the picture quality aint much but you'll get the idea!
Wow it worked!
Ok so Six months ago I started mocking up a new Sudframe in wood
Then spoke to a fabricator that did work for my employer about making it up in Ali square section tube...................Well he did.............Badly.
so back to square1
Second hand Subframe was bought n I did it myself.........
Since then not much has changed but the ideas for Battery/eleccy tray have been a real Nightmare coz thay wouldnt fit under the tail piece I chose....... which is from a 1983 CB750FB (the rest of it's still in my garage part way thru its own build) but thats another story.
Leccy tray is part built but no pix yet...
So there you have it..............except
I rebuilt the steering coz it needed new bearings and have fitted a new top yoke........... Fat Bar risers are on their way.
That all for now.
Wot do ya think? Pig in a Poke?
Well I'm happy

If you find you need a new tailpiece at any stage of the build, let me know, I have about 3 of these.

Re: Blade fighter
Ok so you've seen how itn should be done by griz n cabbie....
Now marvel at the disorganisation and mess of Project Bladefighter or should that be Bodgefighter
Here's a few pics of the Battery and Leccy Tray i been cobbling together.
er, plans first.
I did some pics of cutting the Ali sheet but I dun lost 'em.
So here we go
Clear work surface...... wots that
Gotta weld on a backplate that will alos hold the tail lights but you get the idea
I welded in some ali strips to strenghten the sides as they seemed a bit flimsy.
So there you have it for now.
Profeshnul 'eh.
feel free to take the p*ss.
I dont tidy up -
EVER
that's just a waste of time that could be used Drawing or Bodging or...............doin the kids homework!!

Re: Blade fighter
If you go down the horizontal route like I am with the R6 undertray then you have to buy a gel battery mate.
Normal acid battery will leak if its not upright.

Re: Blade fighter
From ive seen of batteries, with my current one especially. I had to add the acid to the battery, once done I had to press the two sealing caps over the six filling holes.
Apparently from what I have read the gel batteries dont even leak if they get cracked?

Re: Blade fighter
Nice work mate, it looks to be coming along nicely, your certainly one step ahead of me being able to weld ally, i've always sent my bits off and paid through the nose for that, keep em coming bud.
One thing that did worry me whilst i was browsing through your pictures is what i noticed in the background. Please don't tell me one of your other projects is a CB250N Superdream? Any other CB but not a Superdeam please.

Re: Blade fighter
Its looking good mate!
Are you using ali braising rods?
I used them to weld up my subframe, not easy stuff to work with & it took quite a few goes to get it right & then I chucked a bit of JB weld on it all to make it look smooth
