I can't read swede LOL, 25 page thread and he painted all those bits at home

Thought they'd have powder coaters in Sweden?

Swedish streetfighter of the year 2008

I don't like the frame being welded personally, I'd be inclined to manufacture a bracket or 2 to avoid that, He's done a good job allround and the machine is very impressive but half the MOT stations over here would be in a quandry wether to fail it or not due to the frame job as it would be officially classed as a frame repair.

plenty of bikes around with framework on them...

and there's plenty of MOT testers who

a, have no idea what the frame should look like
B, are bike freindly and will pass it

the brown bits look pants...but its an impressive build, with no major frame cuts, just the mounts

I'd pass it but there are a lot that wouldn't.

It's just a shame that all that work and it's slightly let down but that frame job.

I wouldn't be happy with it, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Just my opnion.

Re: my spondon blade

Post by radiobloke on Tue 17 Mar 2009, 21:23

RIGHT....here goes....

picked up the engine...had a good natter to the guy selling it...ex racers can always talk bollocks for hours!

got the engine home...mate comes round to buy the GSXR1000 and gives me a lift out of the car with it.....and takes the gixxer home ( yey, more cash and space!)

so...dropped the blade engine out...lifted the frame over the bird engine..."sweet"...me thinks...top end slots between the rails..."brilliant!!!"

then I lower the back of the frame....and try to line up the engine mounts..."BOLLOCKS!!!!"

the rear mounts don't line up,...or rather I can't get them close as the engine mount by the head fouls the engine case.

tried all sorts of different ways...but the frame wont fit without some frame mods...removing the engine mounts and re positioning them.

for referance, and to make sure I wasnt missing anything...I think ...I'll drop the blade frame over it...

Griz...remember you wondered if the frame was twisted??
f**k me mate...its been squished to buggery!...but we knew that.

SO...I had a plan...blackbird spondon..and a blade turbo...but thats kinda shot to shit now.

the last 3 days have been spent pondering weither or not I should cut and weld the Spondon frame....basically I can't...I can't do it and risk the frame twisting or making a bodge of it...just can't bring myself to do it.

well,....all is not lost...I still have a Spondon blade to build...and on the shelf I have an awesome motor for my next build...a blackbird fighter!!

just got to work out which one gets the turbo!! lol!
